Can we have Hamish?

Dc2 is on the way.

For a boy we like Hamish but... we have a Scottish surname starting McC, however we are not Scottish (well only via FIL) and live in England, so is Hamish McC... too Scottish for a none Scottish child?

It'll be fine I think, Hamish is gorgeous. If anyone challenges his Scottish credentials upon hearing his name, that's your warning that they're a bit of a tool.

Eminybob · 03/05/2018 19:59

Ha, that is true.

It does make me think of Hamish Macbeth, but I’m probably the last in the line of people to remember that reference Grin

Love Hamish. Ds2 has a scottish name, our link is tenuous to say the leastGrin

Here is my Hamish, a stunning boy, so crack on op - it's a truly outstanding name!!

Can we have Hamish?
Eminybob · 03/05/2018 20:07

Aw I’m glad people like it. I think I’m overthinking it.

The only other name I like as much is Harry, but we definitely cant have that as ds is William!

As long as you don’t mind people thinking you named your ds after a polar bear cub!

I think it might be a very sweet name for a baby boy

Eminybob · 03/05/2018 20:12

What polar bear cub? I’ve missed that one.

Aww I’ve just googled. He is very cute.
Tbf though this baby isn’t due until November I doubt Hamish the polar bear will be at the forefront of people’s minds by then.

chezmk1988 · 03/05/2018 22:30

It's fine

BonnieF · 03/05/2018 22:34

One of our horses is called Hamish. He’s a lovely chap, and it’s a great name. Smile

Billie353 · 05/05/2018 07:46

Love love love Hamish. Oh said no Sad
DC2 is a girl.... So I can't use it anyway Sad

Thebluedog · 05/05/2018 07:48

I love the name Smile

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 05/05/2018 19:31

Definitely use Hamish!! I wasted it on the dog otherwise it would have been my boy name for this baby.

blairsey · 06/05/2018 01:22

I much prefer Harry to Hamish tbh. Don't really like the name Hamish, not my taste. However, it's not awful.
Maybe go with what suits him best when you see him!

Eminybob · 06/05/2018 07:18

I think we can definately not have William and Harry!

Love Hamish. We have a five month old baby Hamish. My parents and extended family are Scots. That’s the only link. Both myself and DH are English. We loved Fraser, George and Hamish but very pleased we went for the more unusual choice - go for it!

Eminybob · 07/05/2018 11:26

Oh you lot have sold it for me I think. Hope it’s a boy now!

If it is a girl I think we are going for Elodie, which I do love and would have been ds’s name had he been a girl.

It’s a great name. Dd has one in her year, always sounds cool Grin
