Girls’ names, 1 or 2 syllables, no nickname...

Ideas please! Girls’ names of 1 or 2 syllables that don’t have obvious nn or shortenings as my family doesn’t really like shortening names (particularly my parents!)

Also ideally outside the top 30 or so... We love Grace, but I’m worried it’s too popular.

Surname is H and not keen on alliteration either, so not H names. And generally prefer more classic names eg Grace, Lucy, Anna...

Without wanting to derail, why does it matter what your parents think? What do you think about nicknames?

Kids especially will find a way to shorten / lengthen or generally change it.

Erin?
Rose?
Lily?

EekThreek · 03/05/2018 10:07

I have an Erin, and in 3 months I haven't figured out how to find a nick name. My Darcey now gets shortened to Darce by her schoolfriends (makes me twitch) and I've lengthened George to Georgie (via Georgie-porgie) but Erin is so far pretty nickname-proof!

LexieLulu · 03/05/2018 10:45

This is exactly what we were going for, as I don't like names that can be shortened.

Alice is my DD.

Lucy
Eve
Erin
Ava
Mia
Joy
Amber

(Having a bit of a mind blank right now, we had a huge list at first)

OP, you don’t have to shorten any name. For example, Arabella never has to be ‘Bella’. You don’t have to use a nickname/shortening because other people with the same name do.

I know kids/people with 3 syllable names that never get shortened. Names don't automatically get shortened!
