Hello!!

So I did a thread a little while ago and we decided on a girls name which is Daphne however we don't know the sex of the baby and I'm due this week

I already have a DS who is called William and if I didn't have a William I would definitely go for a Wilfred but this that's just too close to my sons name.

What do you think of our shortlist?

Alfred - I don't like Alfie though so would prefer Fred if going to be shorten

Albert (Bertie) had a couple of friends comment this is a dogs name 🙄

Ernest (Ernie)

Rufus

Wouldn't necessarily shorten the names as we never have with William

Any other suggestions? I loved Rory and Julian but my DH hates them!

Thank you!!
Xx

I think William and Albert are great together :)

It is so not a dogs name! (Rufus, however...; )

Rory is also great. It's a shame we have to consider our husbands in this naming thing hey?!

TwittleBee · 01/05/2018 19:49

What about Edmund? I've always loved that name and I think it sounds lovely with William.

Ernest is nice too, love Ernie.

I don't like any of your names, sorry.

How about

Alexander, Luke, Matthew, Jonah, Edward, Jacob, Benjamin, James, Daniel

Albert is the best one
Edward?

Lovely selection of names - almost all the same as my shortlist!

I think Alfred or Albert are both great with William, and I’m also not really into shortening (though I love Bertie!) so just use them as they are.

Others on our list that you may like are Arthur and Edward...

(Love Daphne too!)

Buntysoven · 01/05/2018 23:02

I love Rufus

mummysophie23 · 01/05/2018 23:07

Wesley
Radley
Remington (Remi as nickname)
Theodore
Wren
Alfie
Alec

Most of these names are on my shortlist too.

Alfred - I prefer Albert, but this is also a good name. Fred is def the best nickname for it. Although with the popularity of Alfie, I think people would probably call him Alfie anyway.

Albert (Bertie) I REALLY like Albert and would shorten it to Bertie as well. I don't think it sounds like a dogs name at all. Also names from this era are coming back into popularity, so even if people think it sounds like a pets name now, they soon won't.

Ernest (Ernie) - OMG so adorable and cute, but also suits a man. I think this is unlikely to get super popular, which for me is a bonus. I'm trying to convince my Husband on this name at the moment. I like Ernie as a nickname, however the nickname 'Ern' concerns me, and I think of an urn!

Rufus - I like this name, but I think it does sound a bit like pets name.

We like Archie and Frederick, also Arthur and Rufus!

bridgetreilly · 02/05/2018 09:54

Fred is a great choice. I would just call him Fred, or maybe Frederick.

chezmk1988 · 03/05/2018 14:20

Go for Alfred so that you can still use the fred part. Alfred is on my list :)
