Boys names thoughts?

DH and I are expecting a little boy in early September. There are already A LOT of boys in his family (though this is grandbaby one for both sides) so we're avoiding family names from both sides as we don't plan on having tons of kids!

We live in Cardiff (I'm Welsh, DH is English). DH is keen to have a light Welsh flavour to the name somewhere.

First couple of ideas are:

Harri Idris
Henry Tomos

Open to suggestions. Surname begins with an R. Here's the list of names we need to avoid:

Robert
Keith
James
Christopher
David
Jonathan
William
Zachary

Isn't it Henri?

I like Harri Tomos. Rhodri? Rhydian?

Bibijayne · 01/05/2018 09:51

I like Rhodri, it sounds softer when put with our surname (surname is a popular brand of sausages/ a large park in London :) )

Harri Tomos sounds really lovely :)

Dylan?

blairsey · 01/05/2018 11:46

I like all apart from Idris. Love the name Tomos though, would you consider that as a first name? Tomos Henry sounds lovely. Some other suggestions:
Elis
Evan
Dylan
Rhys
Macsen
Niclas
Owen
Steffan
Trystan/Tristan

Bibijayne · 01/05/2018 12:19

Ooo all good suggestions :) DH is keen on Dylan (which is a lush name, but I know two baby Dylans already :) ) - Evan is on my list, and I think Trystan/ Tristan could really work too.

What about Arthur, think it has welsh connections

MadisonAvenue · 01/05/2018 12:47

Having worked out your surname I think that Rhodri is a bit of a mouthful with it.

I love Dylan and Evan.

I wanted Gethin for our baby, but apparently we're having a girl. Still love it as a name.

I love Ceri as well, but I know it can cause problems if you / your DS move to England with pronunciation / presuming he's a girl etc.

Ioan
Osian
Llew/i

Bibijayne · 01/05/2018 14:26

@MadisonAvenue Ha! Yeah - alliteration doesn't always work!

Something more original maybe?

mamansnet · 01/05/2018 14:43

I wanted LlÅ·r but my husband can't pronounce it, so we compromised on Llywelyn.

Also love Brân but too flaky...

Bibijayne · 01/05/2018 15:08

@GreenStars Open to suggestions! :)

I love Dylan too, how about Evan Tomos, or Harri Dylan ?
