Winifred (Freddy).

Strokethefurrywall · 30/04/2018 18:42

If DS1 was a girl, he would have been called Dylan. Prefer the sound of it for a girl rather than a boy for some reason.

Also have always loved Stevie (Stephanie).

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/04/2018 18:45

Alex. Andi (Alexandra)
Leigh
Jay
Harri (Harriet)
Jaime
Tommi (Thomasina)
Dani (Danielle)
George (Georgina)
Frankie (Frances Francesca)
Freddie (Winifred)
Bernie (Bernadette)

boomboom1234 · 30/04/2018 18:45

Bobbie and Billie

duckingfisaster · 30/04/2018 18:48

Stevie or Jaime - or George as a shortening of Georgina? Also like Frankie and Billie.

goldangel · 30/04/2018 18:48

Ryan or James

emelsie · 30/04/2018 18:49

Kiran

emmaliz · 30/04/2018 18:49

Drew

I know two boys (men) named Tracey and one called Gill (not short for anything apparently!)

I like Peta for a girl

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 30/04/2018 18:54

Why do you want a boys name for a girl?

Would you call a boy a girls name?

MillicentF · 30/04/2018 18:56

Tracey was iriginally a male name.

Not sure about Gill- the only one I ever met was Gil, short for Gilbert, but he kept the -bert bit very quiet!

The fact remains- nobody would
ever start a thread about liking lovely feminine names for boys and be flooded with responses suggesting Susan and Rose and Verity.

daisypond · 30/04/2018 19:32

Francesca and Frances are both girls' names, though. Do you mean Francis, which is a boy's name? But it's pronounced differently.

bangwhistle · 30/04/2018 19:39

I have a Bertie short for Beatrice. I love it. She's more Bertie now. It really suits her. I've always liked boys names on girls there really isn't an issue. I have a son too with quite a flouncy name I suppose. I can't imagine my daughter ever feeling we wished we'd had a boy instead. That's just odd. My name which is more traditionally a girls name is also quite often a boys name too.

Hushabyelullaby · 30/04/2018 19:49

I know someone with a daughter Noa

Twelve8Ts · 30/04/2018 23:30

I work with a beautiful Freddi (Frederica), I love Teddie and Harry/Harrie, Loui, know a little girl Reggie, generally really like boys names for girls. I too have a boys name which I’ve always loved!
For those asking ‘why would you give your daughter a boys name?’, she literally wrote the explanation out for you.

Boredoftryingusernames · 01/05/2018 07:05

For those asking why the OP would want to do this she says she is a Charlie and has always loved it.....surely that answers your question?
Some really good suggestions on here OP, haven't got any to add, but looking for a girl's name myself too!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/05/2018 07:28

know a little girl Reggie

Poor little girl. It's bad enough on a boy.

donnaeastman · 01/05/2018 09:21

Gabrielle is a nice boys name for girls. It's very classy and never gets old.

MillicentF · 01/05/2018 09:28

Gabrielle is not a boy's name.

PetraRabbit · 01/05/2018 09:56

I like the first four, though the girl's version is Andie...like the actress Andie McDowall. Andie is really cute.
Please, please not Rory. It will look like you didn't know it was a boys' name. All your other names are girls' names with a more tomboyish shortening but Rory is just incorrect on a girl. I actually don't mind extreme boy names like James or George for girls but that's because they are so obviously a strong choice not a confused mistake.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/05/2018 13:16

Alexandra is another name you could shorten to Andie or Alex obviously

Veronica nn Ronnie

I also recently met a Beatrix who went by Buzz which i though was cute and clever (usually shortened to Bee - bee's buzz)

pipilangstrumpf · 01/05/2018 14:22

I know a female Rory, short for Aurora. I like it!

Kellyturnbull · 01/05/2018 21:00

I love unisex or ‘boys names on girls’
Girls I’ve met and just loved their names:
Finley
Andi
Stevie
Bobbi
Drew
Parker
Tate
Blair
Rory

HairyToity · 01/05/2018 21:42

Bobbie
Rowen

youarenotkiddingme · 02/05/2018 07:06

Gabrielle is not a boys name

Tell my Male neighbour that! He's shortened to Gabby.

And why when people suggest Jamie for a girl do they suggest spelling it differently. It's fine as Jamie and many remained spell it that way.
