Wilfred and River?

Could DS Wilfred have a sister called River or are they too different/not really following the same theme whatsoever?

I have no idea why people on here are so obsessed about having matchy-matchy names, it's so naff. Your children are individuals, not part of a branding exercise.

I suspect you'll get a beating but I think both names are cool in their own right, so go the hell for it, I say!

RuthSovoie · 26/04/2018 09:27

Luckingfovely, I could not agree any more.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 26/04/2018 09:31

But will the dB be happy dsis got a cool name?

dancingunicorns123 · 26/04/2018 10:33

@Aprilmightbemynewname I don't think Wilfred is 'uncool' in anyway?

Guess like every name it's where you live!! Up here it's not cool, but maybe my dc have names not nice where you live!!
Both names nice just not together!!

Luckingfovely · 26/04/2018 10:42

I agree that Wilfred is equally as cool as River.

One of my children has a significantly more 'out there' name than the other.

Does it bother them? Have they ever even noticed? Have they bollocks.

Are they both super cool individuals in their own right who completely own their own names? Yup.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 26/04/2018 10:43

They're fine together, I wouldn't think anything negative.

RedDwarves · 26/04/2018 11:15

I think they're very different in style, honestly.

I would also assume a River - with a brother named Wilfred - was a boy. If it was a River and Harper, or River and Piper, or River and some other unisex name, I'd be more inclined to wonder if River was a girl.

villainousbroodmare · 26/04/2018 12:26

Wilfred is the very antithesis of cool. River is quite self-consciously cool. Also masculine imo.

pipilangstrumpf · 26/04/2018 14:26

Names don't need to match!

And your kids will spend more time apart than living together. Just choose names you like.

Madbengalmum · 26/04/2018 14:29

I quite like Wilfred or wilf.

KateMcCallisterHAmom · 26/04/2018 14:59

I think they are very at odds and don't gel well.
But of course, you can name your children whatever you like, really, within reason.

StarlaMack · 26/04/2018 19:49

River is a very cool name, for a boy.

Marcipex · 26/04/2018 20:24

Rowan is a better match, esp for a girl.
Wilf and Roo :)

84CharingCrossRoad · 26/04/2018 20:27

As the mother of a Wilf(red) I think its a very cool name!!!

BluthsFrozenBananas · 26/04/2018 20:33

Wilfred and River sounds a bit like a clothing shop for the country gent, I can picture them selling tweeds and waders.

Seriously, it’s fine, names don’t have to match.

Like Marcipex's suggestion
