We have been looking at boys names for our newborn , we are still pretty stuck, what do you all think of the name ‘Archie?’ Or Lewis (Louie for short while he’s little) any other suggestions welcome

I like them both, would go with Lewis over Archie as I think it's more "timeless". I would spell the nickname Lewie, though, as it makes more sense alongside Lewis.

Padfoot100 · 22/04/2018 22:29

I also like them both, but prefer Lewis :). Have you considered just using the name Louis (Lou-ee) if you want that as the nickname anyway?

Baker10 · 22/04/2018 23:07

Yes , we did talk about it but thought Louis was quite cute for a nick name, think Lewis is a stronger name for when he’s older but we maybe wrong

Sophronia · 22/04/2018 23:15

I prefer Lewis to Archie

DramaAlpaca · 22/04/2018 23:18

I much prefer Lewis.

I dislike cutesy names and find Archie very cutesy indeed.

Baker10 · 22/04/2018 23:38

Or Owen?

Joeybee · 23/04/2018 00:55

Archie is a bit common. It's okay as a short form of Archibald, but Archie on its own...it just sounds chavvy to me.
Lewis is a nice name. It's pretty timeless and classic, you've got nice nickname potential with Lou/Luey, and it's an easy name for everyone to spell and pronounce.

stellinaa · 23/04/2018 03:36

Prefer Archie to Lewis, as the latter is a little plain imo. Love Archie as a nn for Archer!

pipilangstrumpf · 23/04/2018 06:49

Lewis is much nicer! I don't like Archie, sorry

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/04/2018 06:51

Hate Lewis but love Louis.

Archie is fine.

gwen25 · 23/04/2018 15:02

Lewis 100%

I agree. In England Lewis is far better than the French name Louis (often pronounced Lou-is outside France).

I don't like Archibald at all!

Agreed. Unless you’re Scottish and named after the island.

Prefer Archer to Archie - the latter is very Battersea.

Frosty66612 · 23/04/2018 17:51

Love Lewis. Not so keen on Archie

Threeandabit · 23/04/2018 21:23

I like Lewis best.

I prefer the name Archer to Archie tbh.

Happy choosing, op.

starkid · 24/04/2018 13:47

I prefer your 3rd option of Owen, then Lewis, then Archie last. Not really a fan of Archie/Alfie/Alby
