it's quite sweet but a bit of a 'baby name'.

Fridasfridgefreezer · 16/04/2018 15:22

I agree with ‘fourfried’ it’s quite a babyish name.

Lightsong · 16/04/2018 15:24

I really like Poppy, it was on my list for DD. A girl at work has a toddler Poppy, it's a lovely name.

Growuphelen · 16/04/2018 15:25

Some people love cutesie names like Poppy, Daisy, Tilly etc. Some people think they sound wet and babyish. It's all personal preference.

I had a friend at uni called Poppy. She was honestly the most beautiful person I have ever met - absolutely stunning. People used to turn to stare at her when we went out and she was often stopped to ask if was of wanted to model. She wasn't and didn't. She's now moved somewhere exotic with her millionaire husband. Anyway, bit of a trip down memory lane there - sorry! But Poppy always has very glamorous connotations for me!

userabcname · 16/04/2018 15:31

*if she was or wanted to model

Peachbubble · 16/04/2018 15:39

I love it, always been a favourite. I only know one, aged 12.

WowIFreelStrange · 16/04/2018 15:41

I love it but it's my dogs name so I could never use it lol .

TheQueenOfWands · 16/04/2018 15:42

Love it.

FawnDrench · 16/04/2018 15:45

I know one but her name's spelt Poppie

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/04/2018 17:32

❤️ Poppy.

RavenWings · 16/04/2018 17:45

Agree that it's babyish.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 16/04/2018 18:26

I think it's a lovely name for a little girl but sounds a bit silly for an adult woman.

daisypond · 16/04/2018 19:24

It's fine. I like it better than names like Daisy, Ivy or Violet. At least it's not a minute flower.

Dan1983 · 16/04/2018 19:28

Thanks for all your opinions. Our daughter is due in 2 months and this is the name we are dead set on :)

If it was a boy, we would've chosen Riley.

I always wonder why people ask for opinions on a baby name if they're set on using it. Surely it's a pointless act.

Mumstheword2018 · 16/04/2018 19:38

Bit of a dogs name around my way

Arapaima · 16/04/2018 19:40

I love Poppy. It was on my list but DH vetoed it.

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/04/2018 19:41

It's sweet, but it's a baby's name.

sirlee66 · 16/04/2018 19:42

Love the name Poppy! Could never use it muself as it's our dog's name but think it's lovely!

Onceuponatimethen · 16/04/2018 19:43

I love the sound of it but I wouldn’t use it because I don’t think it suits everyone. I would hate to be called Poppy.

I used to know someone who had a sister called Heidi and used to say it’s more of a cute little girl name but a bit horrendous if you are fat fair and 40 Shock I can see what he meant in a way though bd think it kind of applies to names like Poppy

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/04/2018 19:43

Oh, well there you go, you've chosen.
At least now you know what people will be really thinking when they tell you they love the name.

Dan1983 · 16/04/2018 19:50

That's the reason I posted this topic, just to see what other's think of it. My OH has been told a few times it's a ridiculous name.
