A sister for...

DD4 is on the way! Her sisters are Edith (nn edie) grace (gets Gracie as a nn) Matilda (gets tilda/tilds as a nn). On the list at the minute are-

Florence
Lana
Beatrice (worried about how common it is though, especially as already have Matilda which is very popular)
Poppy (this is on the list because goes really nicely with our surname but again worried about it being too common)
Talitha (pretty name but think it might be too much with tilda as a nn for dd3)

I love the names Ophelia and Genevieve but not sure if they're too pretentious and just can't quite imagine Ophelia fitting a baby. Any other suggestions/thoughts on our current list would be great! With all the other girls Ive been dead set on a name instantly so this is quite strange for me

I actually think that Genevieve (vivie) would work beautifully.

It's cute on a little one and suitable for an adult.

Jessbow · 16/04/2018 11:53

Eleanor- Ellie/Elle
Beatrix- Trixie/Trix/Bea
Alice
Felicity- Flick/Fliss/Fi

I favour Alice myself

RedDwarves · 16/04/2018 11:53

Florence is nicest of your list, with Lana a close second.

I prefer Tabitha to Talitha.

How about Nina?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 16/04/2018 11:54

I like Poppy the best, from your list, I don't know any !
It goes well with your other names, Edie, Gracie, Tilda and Poppy.

Peachbubble · 16/04/2018 11:54

I like Poppy, and prefer Tabitha to Talitha. Do you like Clementine, Rosalie, Felicity or Iris?

Snowysky20009 · 16/04/2018 11:55

I love Genevieve nn- Gen, Genny, Vie, Vieve.

LongDivision · 16/04/2018 12:08

Your DDs have lovely names!
Genevieve is cute. Beatrice /Florence/Poppy have been popular around here lately.
How about -
Judy
Chloe
Anne
Clara
Jana
Bluebell
Meadow

Dogsrbarking · 16/04/2018 12:15

Florence is more popular than Matilda and Beatrice.

Beatrix
Iris
Mabel
Clara

stellinaa · 16/04/2018 12:21

I think Genevieve goes best. Such a pretty name too!

Lifeaback · 16/04/2018 13:13

Leaning slightly more towards Genevieve as it's got such a positive response! Didn't even think of Vivi as a nickname but really like it now

I love Florence and Beatrice! I don't think Beatrice is very common, I've just checked out the 2017 most popular baby names in uk and Beatrice doesn't even appear in the top 100. Florence is much more popular -it ranks #39. I wouldn't worry about popularity though -they are both gorgeous names! Smile

I like Genevieve too, very classy!

starkid · 16/04/2018 16:03

Lana, Beatrice, Ophelia and Genevieve are all lovely :) I like your other daughters names too, good taste!

TatianaLarina · 16/04/2018 16:39

Can’t stand Genevieve and Genny is such a boring name.

Really like Beatrice and Talitha - but I can see why you’d think the latter was too similar to Matilda.

Beatrice is nowhere near as popular as Grace and Matilda.

AnyaMoondial · 16/04/2018 16:43

I love Beatrice nn Bea. Love it love it love it!

bridgetreilly · 16/04/2018 20:07

Rosalind, Rosie.
Dorothea, Dorrie.
Charlotte, Lottie.

MikeUniformMike · 16/04/2018 20:12

Don't like Genevieve or Ophelia.
I suggest Lottie short for Charlotte.

daisypond · 16/04/2018 20:15

I like Florence, Beatrice and Poppy, though I'm not sure Poppy goes with your other DDs' names. I really dislike Ophelia. It's a name you can't win with. It either makes you look pretentious - showing off that you've read your Shakespeare - or ignorant - you don't know Ophelia's dreadful story. I like Genevieve. But are you happy to have two daughters with the same initial? If you like Vivi, would Vivian/Vivienne/Vita be any good?

Thiswayorthatway · 16/04/2018 20:17

Penelope
Nancy
Cleopatra

Chocmallows · 16/04/2018 20:19

I was going to suggest Vivienne too.
I thought Genevieve was shortened to Evie, which is pretty.

Sophronia · 16/04/2018 22:10

Florence and Beatrice go well with your other DDs names.

pilates · 16/04/2018 22:15

What beautiful names, you have great taste.

Harriet
Alberta
Constance
Francesca

manicinsomniac · 17/04/2018 00:28

I love Lana, Talitha and Genevieve (though I agree Tilda is too close if DD4 were to end up as Tally)

Less keen on Florence, Poppy, Beatrice and Ophelia but they're all nice names.

Other ideas - Edie, Gracie, Tilda and ...
Annabelle (Annie/Anna)
Arabella (Bella)
Cassandra (Cassie/Cass)
Camilla (Milla)
Fenella (Nella/Nell)
Henrietta (Hetty)
Imogen (Immy)
Joanna (Jo)
Jessica (Jess/Jessie)
Juliette (Etta)
Katherine (Katie/Kitty)
Madeleine (Maddie)
Philippa (Pippa)
Sophia

Lifeaback · 17/04/2018 02:47

Thank you all for the positive responses and other suggestions! Charlotte nn Lottie is on the list now along with pippa, and think Florence and poppy have been ruled out

MadMaryBoddington · 17/04/2018 10:43

I love Talitha, but agree it’s too close to Tilda.

Genevieve is nice. I know one who never shortens it.

How about Kitty or Saskia?

blinkineckmum · 17/04/2018 12:13

Beatrice is nicest and works best imo.
