Indigo, Indie or Indy

Which do you prefer? I know a lot of people on MN aren’t keen on shortened names on birth certificate...I’m not keen on India or Indira.

For a boy or girl?

Indigo is a boy name, India is a girl's name.

Sorry, should have said it’s for a girl. Indigo is more of a girls name to me, although know it can be unisex.

Sorry but I don't like any of them. Are you in Scotland? Friends of mine gave their son Indy as a middle name as they are die hard nationalists.

I don’t like any of the above. I know two arsehole Indigo’s (went to Steiner for a bit Blush ) and think it’s a bit OTT.

Indie is a sweet nickname, not as a stand-alone name. I do like Indira though, like Indira Varma. Could that be an option?

Indigo says flaky hippy parents loud and clear - tho if you are that’s fine.

I like Indira too.

I really like India and I think Indigo is quite cool.

Other options could be Indiana or Ines/Inez

I love indigo with Indy as a nn. Indigo is definitely a girls name rather than a boys name (most of the baby name websites list it as a girls name) I also think that a boy with the name indigo seems pretentious and try hard hipster but as it's much more common for a girl there are none of those connotations. Congratulations op and good luck picking!
