Sibling for Finn

DC2 is due soon and still struggling to decide on a name. Thankfully we both like the shortlist options and have similar tastes which is half the battle but just can't nail down a name. Finn was an easy pick last time round so I suppose I expected it to be easy again. Current options:

Max
Aidan
Axel
Conor

Orlaith
Aoife
Maya

Made the mistake of saying options to DPs and they hate at least one of the names which may be skewing my thoughts but any opinions welcome.

I like Max, Conor, Orlaith and Aoife

Aprilmightbemynewname · 15/04/2018 14:19

I have Gabriel, Roan and Fynn.

stellinaa · 15/04/2018 14:21

I like Max, Axel and Maya

RavenWings · 15/04/2018 14:31

I like Aidan, Conor, Orlaith and Aoife. The one issue I see is that if you're not in Ireland, the ith at the end of Orlaith might be difficult for people.

RavenWings · 15/04/2018 14:32

I think Max is very bland compared to your other options, tbh. Maya too but not as much so.

I like Aidan and Aoife best, with Orlaith a very close second for a girl.

BobbyAxelrod · 15/04/2018 15:00

Thanks all. The popularity of Max definitely puts me off but then DS has 2 Conors in his nursery class so you just never know about these things.

We're not in Ireland but I think where we are in Scotland shouldn't be an issue for the ith at the end of Orlaith.

I have a Finn too. I don't like Axel or Max, but really like the rest.

Sophronia · 15/04/2018 18:28

I know a Finn with a brother called Max

DramaAlpaca · 15/04/2018 18:35

I like all your names apart from Axel & Max.

I prefer Orla to Orlaith.

BobbyAxelrod · 15/04/2018 20:10

Hmm fairly split then, just like we are! I expected Aidan to be less popular based on other threads but maybe those that hate all of the options just haven't commented Grin

I have a horrible feeling the name won't be sorted until baby arrives. I really like Axel but just don't know if I'm brave enough to use it. We're not exactly 'out there' and are surrounded by friends with James, Lucy, Anna, Harry, Grace etc. All lovely names but definitely more classic.

If you really like Axel be brave & use it.

I was brave with my third DS's name 20 years ago after going for more classic names for the first two. It was quite unusual back then but more popular now, and MN seems to love it.

gwen25 · 15/04/2018 22:02

I love Aidan, Conor, Orlaith and Aoife. Celtic names are fabulous!

chezmk1988 · 15/04/2018 22:30

Max or Connor

Tropicana123 · 16/04/2018 00:35

I love Axel

BobbyAxelrod · 16/04/2018 16:35

Thanks Drama. You're right, I should be brave. DH is sold on it but it's me pulling us back from the name as I worry too much about what other people think Blush

Middle name is safe at least so I suppose if he really hated the name there's an alternative available

I like Aiden and Orlaith best but Aoife is a close second

TTCI · 17/04/2018 12:48

I think Emmett

I like Aidan and Maya. Don’t like any of the others. I think Aidan goes amazingly with Finn.
