Son is due in the summer and we have been talking names. I have always loved longer names on birth certificates that can be shortened so he can have a choice when he's older.

DH loves the name Eric and it's really grown on me.

The only longer version I can think of is Frederic but we already have a Freddy in the family.

Can you think of any other ideas or do you think Eric is ok on its own?

Federico is a good name that can be shortened to Eric!! Not a common name but a great one to have Star

Eric on its own is nice. I know an Eric and an Erik. Both of them are great.

LoveInTokyo · 13/04/2018 18:35

I think Eric is fine as a full name in its own right. If you like it, use it.

Either Eric or Erik on their own are perfectly good names.

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2018 19:22

It's fine as a name on its own.

I like the spelling Erik better than Eric, for some reason it looks cooler.

chezmk1988 · 13/04/2018 19:22

I like Eric on its own

MadMaryBoddington · 13/04/2018 19:24

Eric is a great name, and absolutely fine as it is without being lengthened.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 13/04/2018 19:24

Just go with Eric, it's great !
Aleric is also a good name for your consideration.

DiegoMadonna · 13/04/2018 19:53

I like it. On its own.

Don't see the point in trying to find a longer name for it when it is a standalone name in its own right.

My dd was going to be Frederick, to be known as Eric. I got a Florence instead.

Eric, alone, is lovely. It’s DS1s middle name and I desperately wanted to use it as his first name but DM and ExP told me it was ‘too old.’ It’s cool now though! (He is 11).

I once had the most gorgeous lover called Erik. It's a lovely name, with a c or a K at the end.

AdaColeman · 13/04/2018 21:07

Erik is fab, especially when spelt with a K.

SemperIdem · 14/04/2018 02:11

I really like Eric
