What do you think? Not as keen on Cecily.

Very pretty.

TinWhistleTunes · 13/04/2018 08:40

Lovely, old fashioned name (and the only Cicely I have ever known in person was a lovely young woman).

It's unusual without being made up. I think it was very popular a few centuries ago.

Smallhorse · 13/04/2018 08:53

Hmm. Sounds a bit gynaecological.

Or like an exotic vegetable

Buxbaum · 13/04/2018 08:55

Love it.

OddS0ck · 13/04/2018 08:58

Pretty, unusual name. Popular In Victorian times.

LoveInTokyo · 13/04/2018 08:58

I want to like it but it gives me the feeling that someone has misspelled Cecile or Sicily (the place).

I’m pretty sure if I actually met someone called Cicely it wouldn’t seem so weird though, it just sounds a bit odd in the abstract.

reup · 13/04/2018 09:05

I like it because it reminds me of the character in The Importance of being Earnest. I also like Celeste (mainly because of the actress Celeste Home in High Society)

MaMisled · 13/04/2018 09:07

This was top of my list until a troublesome client called Cicely became mine to deal with! It felt like an omen ! I chose another lovely name but still yearn for a Cicely!

MollyHuaCha · 13/04/2018 09:25

Love it. Nn Cici.

AnyaMoondial · 13/04/2018 10:57

Yeah it's lovely.

Madhouse2018 · 13/04/2018 10:59

Nice but the selling doesn't look 'right'

chezmk1988 · 13/04/2018 11:10

Not keen

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 13/04/2018 12:16

I think I prefer Cecily.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 13/04/2018 12:21

Lovely. I prefer it to Cecily. It's a herb/botanic name as well I think. Really pretty and yes, unusual without being out there.

MarmiteTermite · 13/04/2018 12:22

How is it pronounced?

stellinaa · 13/04/2018 12:31

Love the sound but looks wrong written down to me. Wouldn't go for Cecily, as it is often pronounced differently (ses-il-ee not sis-il-ee). How about Cecelia (nn Cicely) or just Sicily?

PinkCalluna · 13/04/2018 12:33

I love it, makes me think of the “Importance of Being Ernest”

ErrantBakedBean · 13/04/2018 13:28

Saying it out loud, I think people would assume you are saying Sicily so you and child would have to be ok with spelling it out all the time. Also, while it is pretty, I'm afraid it makes me think silly/sissy - sorry!

Winterfield · 13/04/2018 16:32

Pronounced SISS-uh-lee

Thanks for all the thoughts so far

I thought the character in The Importance of Being Earnest was Cecily Cardew ...? Really like Cicely too anyway.

LoveInTokyo · 13/04/2018 16:52

Have you thought about Cecilia?

LadySerenaCarlow · 13/04/2018 16:53

love it - sweet Cicily

daisypond · 13/04/2018 17:35

I like how it looks, and it's an old name, but it's too close to Cecily in how it sounds. People will spell it wrongly constantly.

MarmiteTermite · 13/04/2018 18:55

It’s growing on me! We are going to Sicily this summer (same sound?).

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2018 19:19

I prefer Cecily but I like it.
