Hi all

Pregnant with DC2 and think we have narrowed down the following names.

I know everyone has different tastes, but is there anything I should be aware of with these names that could potentially be off putting do you think.....?

Elizabeth
Nancy
Penelope
Rosalind

I think they're all nice, can't think of any awful nicknames or connotations. Do the initials sound ok with your last name?

I like Elizabeth and Penelope.

I don't like Nancy or Rosalind. Both still outdated and not ready for a comeback. Also, where I live, Rosalind would inevitably get "Roz" for short.

Things to be aware of: make sure you like Liz/Lizzy and Penny, because those are the most obvious shortenings for Elizabeth and Penelope.

Nancy makes me think of (a) David Cameron, (b) the prostitute in Oliver Twist and (c) the town in France. None of these things are absolute dealbreakers but I probably wouldn’t use it (mostly because my husband is French so it would be like calling our kid Exeter or something).

The others are all good with decent nickname options as well.

All good, but Rosalind is least favorite.

Penelope is lovely but Nancy is my all-time favorite. Cute and sweet for a girl, and strong, attractive and just a tiny bit quirky for a woman. Perfect name in my view.

I think Rosalind is making a comeback, btw. I keep seeing it mentioned on here. Love the nn Rosa.

I like Penelope but hate penny.
I like Elizabeth but hate Liz/Lizzy

I'm not keen on Nancy, but the others are all lovely.

I like Rosalind but prefer the similar Rosamund

Penelope Cruz apparently shortens her name to Pe, and I know someone else who shortens to Nell. So you are not stuck with just Penny.

I like Elizabeth the best

Nancy makes me think of the song Nancy boy by placebo

I like Rosalind best

I'm coming across Penelope quite a lot at the moment though I think it's a long way off being popular

I like Elizabeth and Nancy. Rosalind is ok but I prefer Rose.

Nancy is a gorgeous name! If we had another DD we would definitely use it. Really lovely.

Nancy Elizabeth has a lovely ring to it. I also love Nancy Penelope.
