Love Rosie

Annie reminds me of the film

Amelie will always be confused with Amelia

TroubledLichen · 09/04/2018 20:12

Love Amelie and Rosie. Amelie is pretty popular though, especially when you consider the popularity of Amelia as well. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, just a word of warning in case you’d be bothered by her having 3 others in her nursery class!

Personally Annie makes me think of Little Orphan Annie screeching her way through Toooomorrowwww. And consequently I feel angrily irritated whenever I hear the name.

Rosie would be my top pick Grin

Backhometothenorth · 09/04/2018 20:20

Love Annie

Zaya71 · 09/04/2018 20:22

Love Annie
Like Amelie but I'd be very put off by how many there are in my area.
Like Rosie but as a nn for a longer name.

AnyaMoondial · 09/04/2018 20:27

Annie- love it.
Amelie- I like it, but prefer Annie .
Rosie- For some reason this always sounds very little girly to me (I don't know why I think Annie sounds fine but Rosie sounds too girly). Much prefer Rose/Rosa.

ChocolateCrunch · 09/04/2018 20:29

Not keen on Annie, sorry. Like Amelie and Rosie, but would go for Rosalie or Rosalind, with Rosie as a nn.

Marv1nGay3 · 09/04/2018 20:31

I like Annie and Rosie.
I prefer Amelia to Amelie.
I like Amelie but it feels very french to me and will always be associated with the film with Audrey Tatou. It’s still a lovely name, though.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 09/04/2018 20:31

Annie is harsh to me. Much prefer Anna.
Rose is so much nicer than Rosie, Amalie is ok.

PinkAvocado · 09/04/2018 20:34

I only know one Amelie and it isn’t very high in chart statistically so may be regional in popularity. It’s pretty and feels more of a stand alone name than Annie or Rosie. I like Anne and Rose more.

PinkAvocado · 09/04/2018 20:34

Also like Anna.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/04/2018 20:42

❤️ Rosie.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/04/2018 21:13

l love Annie. It's so sweet and pretty and not too,if at all common.
Amelie is like a cross between Amelia and Emily gone hideously wrong.
Rosie just reminds me of Lorraine Kelly and her 'wee' RosieHmm

VioletCharlotte · 09/04/2018 21:14

I like all these names. In order of preference, I'd go for -
Amelie
Rosie
Annie

All lovely though Smile

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/04/2018 21:14

Do love Rosa. Anna and Amelia

Rif3121M · 09/04/2018 21:20

Rosie. It's sweet it's short and doesn't remind me of a film lol. Good luck choosing Hun. All the best. Xx

Sophronia · 09/04/2018 21:50

I love Annie and like Rosie. Not keen on Amelie.

TempsPerdu · 09/04/2018 21:55

Annie’s quite nice, although I prefer Anna and Anya. Not keen on Rosie (although I love Rosa) - it’s a bit cutesy and twee for me, whereas Annie sounds more sassy and tomboyish.

Amelie’s just meh - not awful but very of the moment, and I think it will date quite quickly. Plus there’s the Amelie/Emily/Amelia issue.

Annie would be my pick.

BringMeCoffeePlease · 09/04/2018 22:03

Amelie is the best of the three.

typcast · 09/04/2018 22:07

I like Rose, but it's quite a common name. You can be named Anna - but nicknamed Annie when you're little and cute but use Anna if you go off Annie at some point.

chezmk1988 · 09/04/2018 22:24

Amelie is ok
Annie to me is a nickname for a longer name as is Rosie

gwen25 · 10/04/2018 09:42

I love Rosie and Annie. Not keen on Amelie at all

LoveInTokyo · 10/04/2018 10:41

I think Amélie sounds a bit twee and pretentious if you aren’t French. If you are English, Amelia or Emily would be better.

Rosie is fine but it’s a bit of a little girl name. I much prefer Rosa.

Annie is lovely and underused, but I would probably go for Anna on the birth certificate because it’s a more serious/versatile name for when she’s older.

DanceDisaster · 10/04/2018 11:52

I really like Annie. Very cute. I’d probably use a longer name on the BC as I’m one of Those People, but it’s nice on its own too. Rosie is lovely too, but I couldn’t use it as a full name on the bc as it reminds me of that annoying Everything’s Rosie character on CBeebies and also Sally and Kevin’s daughter ‘Raw-zay’ in Corrie, (my late mum used to make us watch it).

DanceDisaster · 10/04/2018 11:52

Oh sorry and I only really like Amelie in a French accent, so wouldn’t use in the uk personally.
