Help with boys names please

Baby due later this month, we have two strong girls names but stuck on boys. We have an unusual surname which we always have to spell/repeat so would ideally like a safe traditional name that isn’t too out there.

Our current list is below but we don’t love any of them. Any other suggestions along similar lines welcome!

Harrison (Harry)
Leo
Jacob
Robin (I’m not keen, DH likes)

I like Robin!

Robin is my favourite. I think it’s lovely and would have had it on my shortlist for ds, but Dh didn’t like it.

Leo and Harrison are nice too.

Thanks for all the responses Smile

I prefer Harry over Harrison but DH likes the longer version.

Leo we liked when pregnant with DD but know quite a few now so the shine has gone off it a bit. Still like it more than others though.

Should have mentioned we have a DD already called Jessica so need something which goes with that ideally. Not sure about names starting with the same letter though?

I think Jessica and Robin sound very classy together.

My sons are Lincoln and Kennedy. I had so many names picked out for Kennedy (Lincoln was always Lincoln):
Theodore
Kingston
Winston
Emmanuel
I love boys names, I can't pick a girls name for toffee tho haha x

Moominfan · 10/04/2018 15:03

Abraham Lincoln and John f Kennedy?

Lauren83 · 10/04/2018 15:18

I love Alexander/Alex or Sebastian/Seb

TroubledLichen · 10/04/2018 15:27

Harrison is one of those names regularly mentioned on here as most disliked so I suspect you won’t get a lot of love for it. But if you like it then that shouldn’t stop you using it. Personally I think Harry is so much nicer and doesn’t need a long version so Harry would get my vote. Leo is lovely too and I do like Robin (sorry to agree with your DH). Jacob is perfectly fine but I’m not wild about it.

LoveInTokyo · 10/04/2018 15:31

Why not Henry nn Harry? That’s more traditional than Harrison.

I see Robin as a little boy’s name and quite effeminate on an adult. What about Robert instead?

Jessica and Robert sound nice together.

@Moominfan you got it :). We just adored the name Lincoln and it was a lucky accident that it had meaning behind it, my partner is Nigerian and he liked that Lincoln abolished slavery. And with Kennedy for over half my pregnancy I was adamant that he would be called Kingston, but we talked and talked and just loved Kennedy. And again it was a happy accident that they're both presidents and JFK was so involved in civil rights. They both really suit their names. X

JammyC · 12/04/2018 08:40

Can't use Henry as a close friend has already got a lovely Henry and it wouldn't seem right to use the same name. I might push for Harry as a standalone name in its own right or Leo.

We both also quite like Toby but I can't see a grown up man being a Toby!
