I heard Alexia whilst out yesterday. Girl was about 8. It struck me as very pretty sounding. Thoughts?

Too like Alexa for me. Though if that device comes and goes as quickly as Betamax, perhaps it won't matter. But right now, I wouldn't.

I don't like the i in there. Alexa sounds prettier but agree about the unfortunate Amazon Alexa connection.

Alexia is the name of a medical condition, which I find offputting. Same with Amelia.

daisypond · 09/04/2018 09:46

I like it. I prefer it to Alexa. It's the equivalent of Alessia in Italian, and no doubt there are forms in other languages. The only thing to bear in mind is that it does have a medical meaning - "Loss of the ability to comprehend the meaning of written or printed words and sentences, usually caused by brain lesions" - which may put you off.

Don't like it.

The company that made my wedding dress was called Alexia. Dh and I liked the name for a future daughter..Then I found out if was the name of a medical condition and it put me off.

Makes me think of the Amazon Alexa too. People would ask her to play their rainy day playlist Grin

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/04/2018 17:08

Alyssa is pretty.

TidyDancer · 09/04/2018 19:25

Alexandra is much nicer but Alexia is pretty.

My dd had a friend called Alexia and I always liked it, her family were Greek I think so it may well have some origins there. My sister said she thought it sounded like a made up name though - whatever that means!

My sister is called Alexia. It's a nice name and it suits her.
