Nice name. Spelling Alyssa

LastOneDancing · 08/04/2018 22:22

Nice. Unusual but not daft.

I like Alissa.

Joeybee · 08/04/2018 23:01

It's a nice name. The different ways of spelling it would be what puts me off the name. I think the Alyssa spelling would be the more common one used, and it looks nicer too.

Sophronia · 08/04/2018 23:55

I like Alyssa

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/04/2018 08:33

Alyssa, lovely name !

Mrsknackered · 09/04/2018 09:41

I don’t like it, think it’s twee but I’d go with Alyssa.

MarkleAndSpencer · 09/04/2018 09:46

I know one Alissa. She's from Namibia and is a real inspiration - CEO of her own company and travelling around the world lecturing. Has positive connotations for me.

daisypond · 09/04/2018 09:49

Alyssa is more common, perhaps, but I don't like it with the Y in the middle. I prefer Alissa as being more elegant.

SundayGirls · 09/04/2018 09:52

Alyssa is how I’d spell it, Alissa looks like a wrong spelling (to me, but that’s just me not representative of all!)

kiwimummy11 · 09/04/2018 09:57

Lovely name, and I like both spellings but probably prefer Alyssa. (On a similar note, have you considered Alicia?)

Susurin · 12/04/2018 23:17

It was on my list. Would have gone for Alyssa, but decided I completely different name.

AmysTiara · 12/04/2018 23:18

Nice name. Id spell it Alyssa.

LoveInTokyo · 13/04/2018 09:38

It’s nice - prefer the Alyssa spelling.

I think Alicia is nicer though.

TatianaLarina · 13/04/2018 14:31

I prefer Alicia too.

sockunicorn · 13/04/2018 14:33

Not keen on Alissa. Love Alyssa but would spell it Alicia (not keen on Ys in names) and would pronounce it Alice-ear

LoveInTokyo · 13/04/2018 15:49

Alyssa and Alicia aren’t the same though.

I’d pronounce Alyssa like A-liss-a and Alicia like A-liss-ee-a.

MikeUniformMike · 13/04/2018 18:29

Alyssa is nice. Alicia is one of those names that people pronounce in different ways - Alissya, Aleesha, Al-iss-ee-ah, Alisha etc so too complicated.

Fabulouslyrich · 15/04/2018 19:47

I prefer Alyssa. Alicia is also nice. I don’t like it produced Aleesha.

MikeUniformMike · 15/04/2018 19:50

I like Alicia but only when it's pronounced Alisha (to rhyme with Trisha).

TatianaLarina · 15/04/2018 20:23

Alisha as in delicia the stripper?

Aleesha is bad enough, Alisha is even worse!

Raines100 · 15/04/2018 21:10

Know one, spelt Alyssa.
I like it. I also like Alicia (Al-iss-ia) and absolutely love the Al-ee-see-a pronunciation, but not so keen on Al-ee-sha. Never heard it said 'Alisha' though Hmm Alyssa avoids much of the ambiguity.

TatianaLarina · 15/04/2018 22:22

There’s also the ancient Greek name Elissa or Elyssa.

Dido, Queen of Carthage is also known by this name.

TatianaLarina · 15/04/2018 22:24

I’d assume that Alyssa probably derives from Elissa, whereas Alicia is from Alice.
