What do you think of this name? Is it too popular? Too boring? Or classic and lovely?

abbsisspartacus · 07/04/2018 07:24

ellesbellesxxx · 07/04/2018 07:24

I love it :)

flybabyfly · 07/04/2018 07:26

Lovely and classic Smile

MissBartlettsconscience · 07/04/2018 07:28

It's surprisingly rare at the moment. There's one in my son's school year with 5 Max's and 4 Oliver's.

LastOneDancing · 07/04/2018 07:28

Neither DH nor I have never met a Thomas we didn't like Smile so now we have one of our own & he's fabulous.

Fifthtimelucky · 07/04/2018 07:31

It's one of my favourite names for a boy and was on our shortlist, but we had girls!

OrdinaryGirl · 07/04/2018 07:31

Tom is a lovely, classic name. Connotations of being friendly, helpful and trustworthy, to me at least. Solid citizen.

Kidssendingmenuts · 07/04/2018 07:31

I have a Thomas. He is a little shit 80% of the time and likes to wind up his sister but his name suits. I hate it when people call him Tom or Tommy and always correct them! His grandma always calls him Tommy and it sends me nuts. But he is Thomas! I love the old names rather than the fancy made up names nowadays

FairfaxAikman · 07/04/2018 07:33

I love it. It was on my long list as I like classic names that can be shortened.

It's one of those names that has fallen out of regular use, so he won't be one of 10 in his class, but everyone knows how to spell and pronounce. Definitely due a revival.

Ignore anyone who accuses you of being boring - no one ever thanked their parents for a Yooneek name.

MadisonAvenue · 07/04/2018 07:36

I'm biased but it's lovely, mine is Tom on his birth certificate.

topcat2014 · 07/04/2018 07:51

Tom is my name, so I am biased! (not Thomas).

Still (at 46..) only ever have to refer to myself without adding any surname - often in quite large workplaces too.

Have a tricky surname, so it helps never having to spell the first name :)

topcat2014 · 07/04/2018 07:52

Oh, and Dsis calls me Thomas as a wind up..
DM will too, if she is annoyed..

MammieBear · 07/04/2018 08:28

I think it's a good name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/04/2018 08:46

Thomas is lovely, Tom is okay, not keen on Tommy.

user1498549192 · 07/04/2018 09:01

Classic and lovely! I've only ever met nice Thomases.

blinkineckmum · 07/04/2018 09:04

I love it.

EveMoneypenny · 07/04/2018 09:07

I have one too, DS2. It's my all time favourite boys' name (apologies to DS1 who has my second favourite name, which DH preferred!).

Sophronia · 07/04/2018 09:11

I love it

RedDwarves · 07/04/2018 09:16

I love Thomas. Fantastic, timeless, classic name.

anxious2017 · 07/04/2018 09:20

Love it. I've only taught one in the last seven years, so it's classic but not too popular.

BawbagWilbury · 07/04/2018 09:41

Lovely and classic!

MCSpammer · 07/04/2018 09:50

Good solid name

HerculesM · 07/04/2018 10:40

Wow! Thank you for all these wonderful replies.Smile I love it too, both Thomas and Tom actually, but occasionally have the odd doubt about it.

Thank you to the real life Tom for your comment too!
