So my husband and I have recently decided we really like the name Wilf (admittedly this could be hormonal craziness).

However our surname is Wild.

Does this totally veto it or can it work because of the different sound of Wild to Wilf?

So Wilf Wild, yes or no?

Wild is a fantastic surname but Wilf is just awful. So weedy and drippy. Also Wilf and Wild just run into one another. Wilfwild sounds like the name of a crumbling country mansion where some dark shit has gone down.

Love it - but I would also love a name that sounds like a mansion where bad shit has gone down though so perhaps I'm not the best person to ask!

Dh is suggesting Oscar Wild? That has a certain cultural and literary cachè to it that you'll never get in Willy Wild.

I was going to say that Wild would have been a good name for one of those early English popstars like Billy Fury and Georgie Fame. But apparently there was one, Marty Wilde, father of me, Kim!
