Asking opinion for someone else!

Her dd1's middle name is Grace. Her dd3 is likely to be Gracie Marie.

That's ok, right?

The whole middle name/ first name isn't a big deal. But I would really tell her to rethink Gracie Marie, it sounds very cutesy.

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 03/04/2018 18:09

Don't think the middle name/first name thing matters, but do have to agree with pp I'm not keen on Gracie Marie.
Gracie on its own i like, but not sure on Marie.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/04/2018 18:40

No, that's not okay.
Grace belongs to daughter number one.
However, Marie is beautiful.

squoosh · 03/04/2018 19:59

It seems awfully lazy to recycle part of the first child's name. A bit 'hmmm, well this was my second favourite name last time so I s'pose it will do as this child's first name'.

She deserves a name all of her own.

Shipshapeit · 03/04/2018 20:04

Terrible idea.
Wouldn’t dream of giving part of ds1s name that we carefully picked with love and care for our firstborn to another child.
They are both equally worthy of their own name in our family.
It’s just a bit weird to be honest.

daisypond · 03/04/2018 20:07

No, it's not OK to reuse the name - the DDs need their own names. It might be different if they've got millions of middle names each, but otherwise, no.

BikeRunSki · 03/04/2018 20:14

Gracie is very cutesey.

RavenWings · 03/04/2018 20:44

Gracie is infantilising. Call her Grace on paperwork, Gracie in everyday life.

I think it's a bit ridiculous to use it as it looks like she couldnt think of a new name for the second child.

RavenWings · 03/04/2018 20:45

Whoops - third child! But you get my point.

BHillary · 03/04/2018 20:49

I love Gracie Marie!

I stupidly have DS1 the name Reuben Dexter

Dexter is my second favourite boy name but no way would I be able to give it to any future sons I may have.

IMBU · 03/04/2018 20:52

It's a nice name but it sounds too much like 'Greasy' to me. Also sounds more like a nickname. That's only my opinion though and lots of people will like it. Go with it if that's the name you like.

PurplePotatoes · 03/04/2018 20:58

I really don't like Grace or Gracie , but Gracie sounds too babyish. I think of it like the name Millie...sweet until you're about 10 but then not great as an adult tbh.
I think it goes fine with Marie as middle name though.

Cynara · 03/04/2018 21:03

Agree with pp. The children deserve their own names. And also agree that Gracie is not ok for anyone older than about 2, outside of family affectionate nicknaming. It's no name for a competent professional woman.
