Is it overused at the moment? Does it go with sister Jessica? We are struggling to agree on a name

IMHO it's a lovely name which goes well with Jessica. You could check whether your local nursery/school has many little Olivias.

Sophronia · 31/03/2018 20:34

It’s very popular (I think #1 in the charts) but it does go well with Jessica.

Beansprout30 · 31/03/2018 20:37

Our other choice is Jasmine

Yes it's overused. However that doesn't the away the fact that it's a very pretty name.
It's goes lovely with Jessica

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 31/03/2018 20:39

I much prefer Jasmine, it's lovely and goes well with Jessica.

Camiila · 31/03/2018 20:39

both are lovely

Alison100199 · 31/03/2018 20:40

Lovely name but there are so many Olivias around. Unfortunately Jasmine is also very popular but not quite so much.

MollyDaydream · 31/03/2018 20:41

There are 2 Olivias and 3 Olivers in my 4 year old's preschool!
I don't know any Jasmines.

Snailgirl4 · 31/03/2018 20:43

Jasmine's beautiful - I vote for that!

Sophronia · 31/03/2018 20:48

I prefer Jasmine

ReversingSnail · 31/03/2018 20:53

They're both popular in the name statistics. However I only know one Olivia and no Jasmines.

Jasmine Olivia would be a really nice name, as would Olivia Jasmine.

lalaloopyhead · 31/03/2018 20:53

I picked Olivia for DD1 some 19 years ago, before popular use of t'internet and not knowing it was most popular name and had been I think close to #1 ever since. Having said that I still have ever known a handful of Olivias ever since and I still think it is a lovely name.

DD1 is known as Liv now though, by her friends.

RavenWings · 31/03/2018 20:55

Jasmine is stunning.
Olivia is extremely overused imo, it's a nice enough name but not nice enough to warrant all the use it gets.

I don't think a name being popular is the worst thing in the world, but you seem concerned about popularity so I'd steer clear of it.

Lifeisshortbuytheshoes · 31/03/2018 21:05

Olivia is a lovely name but way too popular for my liking off the top of my head I can name 8 little girls called Olivia. Go for it if you really love it but be prepared she will likely be known as Olivia “surname” at school. There are 3 Olivia’s in one class at my kids school.
Jasmine is also pretty but perhaps a bit too similar to Jessica?

ChocolateCrunch · 31/03/2018 21:06

I'd go for Jasmine

RapunzelIsHere · 31/03/2018 23:49

Yes, it goes with Jessica. And I would use it rather than Jasmine to avoid a ‘J’ theme.

For me, it’s very conservative. However, it’s not offensive.

MrsBungle · 31/03/2018 23:52

Jasmine is much nicer than Olivia

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2018 23:55

It's popular but it's a beautiful name, as is Jasmine. I like both with Jessica.

AnyaMoondial · 01/04/2018 02:34

Oooo I think Jasmine and Jessica sound fabulous together!

Olivia is nice too though. It is very popular but that shouldn't stop you if you really love it.

How about Olivia as a middle? Jasmine Olivia is very beautiful.

HuskyMcClusky · 01/04/2018 03:29

Olivia is extremely overused imo, it's a nice enough name but not nice enough to warrant all the use it gets.

My thoughts exactly.

Beansprout30 · 01/04/2018 06:11

Thank you everyone I think you've help us settle it, we will go with Jasmine Olivia

Olivia is nice too but very overused
