Can't decide between:

Harriet
Lydia
Tabitha
Matilda

"we've narrowed it down to Matilda and Lydia."

From those I'd go for Lydia.

Lydia all the way, it is not over used and less pretentious than Matilda in my opinion

Harriet - no1, prefer Matilda but it's too popular and I'm not keen on the nns. Hattie is nice for a nn.
