I like it.

NoSquirrels · 28/03/2018 08:46

I like it when I see it. I don’t like Flora, so prefer it to that.

But the more I say it, the more my mind goes “bleurgh”. Sorry. You did ask for honesty though!

LoveInTokyo · 28/03/2018 08:55

I’m not keen. I think the meaning is too cutesy and the sound is not that pretty unless spoken by a native French speaker.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 28/03/2018 08:56

It's lovely, but the pronunciation will always be an issue.

Joeybee · 28/03/2018 08:58

It's a nice name. Not fantastic, a little boring, and too cutesy to me. It's a fab middle name though.

chezmk1988 · 28/03/2018 08:59

Too poncy and I think of bleugh

eloisesparkle · 28/03/2018 09:03

It looks nice but I find the pronounciation difficult.

FusRoDah · 28/03/2018 09:06

Hate it I'm afraid. Sounds like bleurgh.

Scottishgirl85 · 28/03/2018 09:19

It's a pretty name but some girls will not suit it when they're a bit older. I imagine a petite, pretty girl with delicate features...How's about Florence instead?

Scottishgirl85 · 28/03/2018 09:20

*how

daisypond · 28/03/2018 11:56

I like it. It's classic. I definitely don't think it's cutesy. Cutesy, to me, are names that end in an "ee" sound, so I actually think it's a rather strong name. But the "bleurgh" sound could possibly put me off. Flora? Florence?

TatianaLarina · 28/03/2018 12:13

It’s ok, not massively exciting but I don’t know anyone who would have problems with pronunciation.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/03/2018 15:23

I like it

I once worked with a Fleur she was very beautiful with delicate features and blond hair. It really suited her

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/03/2018 15:48

I'm not keen on the sound if I'm honest.

DuggeeHugs · 28/03/2018 16:16

To me it's a nice name that works better in theory than in practice

MsGameandWatching · 28/03/2018 16:20

I love it. Always have.

elQuintoConyo · 28/03/2018 16:22

Looks pretty but doesn't sound pretty.

BabloHoney · 28/03/2018 16:30

It's lovely. Bit unusual but not too out there.

On persuading your husband... my best friend really wanted a name her husband wasn't completely sold on. So she waited until she was in labour, and while she was experiencing the most intense contractions, told him she still wanted the name.. he was so in awe of her managing the pain and pushing a baby out, he agreed, haha x

ReversingSnail · 28/03/2018 17:29

Not keen, sorry.

DairyisClosed · 28/03/2018 17:32

Atrocious.

RapunzelIsHere · 28/03/2018 17:40

I don’t like it, sorry. I agree that it rhymes with bleurgh and is very bleurgh.

Eveforever · 28/03/2018 17:43

De Force

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/03/2018 17:54

Yes the eurgh sound isn't good.

4GreenApples · 28/03/2018 18:28

I suspect you were hoping for a more positive reaction to Fleur given the thread title.

But honestly, even if everyone posting here loved it, if your DH doesn’t like Fleur, would he really be swayed by a bunch of random online strangers saying how lovely a name it is?

overmydeadbody · 28/03/2018 18:31

It really is a strange name, the sound just doesn't work in the English language for me.
