So I have a daughter called Belle and due a baby boy in August.
Me and my partner are at a dead end about names we both agree on 100%
We did pick bishop but after a lot of people saying it’s stupid or saying ‘bashing the bishop’ is a rude saying I’ve kinda went off that name and like Bennet more but my partner wants Bishop!
These are some other names I like
Hunter
Oakley
Harrison
Mason
Blake

Help me!!!

Sorry but I seriously dislike Bennet and Bishop would be an awful name for a baby to try and pull off...to me it’s like calling your son priest or vicar.
Your list isn’t really to my taste but I think Blake or Harrison sound nice with Belle.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 27/03/2018 11:54

Archer

pepsirolla · 27/03/2018 11:58

Agree with above name with title in like Prince or Duke unless you grow up to be a musician is not to my taste. My test of a name is to imagine shouting it across a crowded play park, so for me from your list it would be Blake or Harrison Smile

jellycat1 · 27/03/2018 11:58

My younger son is at school with a Berkeley and for some reason I don't hate it! There's also a Harris and an Archie that are similar to your choices. Elliot?

BevBrook · 27/03/2018 11:59

I rather like Bennet - I have known a few although one was spelt Benet - and there's Bennet Drake from Ripper Street - but agree that Bishop is not great. I like it best out of all your names, then Oakley and Blake.

Other ideas - Marlow, Huxley, Linton, Hendrix, Sorensen, Morten?

IVflytrap · 27/03/2018 12:03

Bishop??

Out of your list, Blake, Hunter and Bennet could work. Mason and Harrison are a bit overused and have a "naughty boy" vibe. Don't like Oakley, it sounds like an old man to me for some reason. Absolute no to Bishop.

Wyatt
Harvey
Beck
Ashton
Brandon
Brody
Lennon
Lennox
Maddox
Jasper
Cory
Roscoe
Alban

Dogsrbarking · 27/03/2018 12:20

Sorry but Bishop is awful. Bennett is fine, could be Ben for short. I like Harrison.

Fletcher
Alban
Jackson
Hunter

Chocolatecake12 · 27/03/2018 12:26

Please remember that this baby will grow up to be a man! Choose a name that suits an adult too - after all we are adults far longer than we are children.
As an aside - my cat is called Oakley so for me it’s a pet name.
How about
Ben
Hugo
Jasper
Felix
Brandon
Brendon

bridgetreilly · 27/03/2018 12:35

All the names in your list are surnames. How about looking at a list of first names?

Marv1nGay3 · 27/03/2018 13:07

Dexter,
Jesse,
Woody ?

Luckingfovely · 27/03/2018 13:24

Bennet - surname
Bishop - no, no, no, no, no

Hunter - maybe, depends on surname
Oakley Sunglasses
Harrison Ford
Mason - surname
Blake - ??

Jasper
Woody
Rocky
Felix
Hugo
Marlow
Linton

Are all good suggestion!

Oysterbabe · 27/03/2018 14:09

Bishop? Why does he hate your child?
How about Fletcher if you like profession names?

BevBrook · 27/03/2018 17:33

I knew someone would be along with the ooh they are all surnames not first names remark. I don’t understand why people say that. So many names started as surnames and are now first names, like Stuart, and using a surname as a first name is hardly a new thing.

daisypond · 27/03/2018 19:43

Harrison is the best out of your list, but I'm not keen on any, really. Please not Bishop - that's terrible. You wouldn't be allowed to name him that in some countries, I think. Mind you, some countries won't allow surnames as first name at all either.

Raines100 · 27/03/2018 21:01

Definitely not Bishop.
Bennett, Harrison, and Mason are nice.
Personally, I prefer Oakley and Blake for girls.
PP suggester Archer. I love that!

ReversingSnail · 27/03/2018 21:20

I like Harrison and Mason (although I dislike most occupation surnames used as first names).

Aidan
Lucas
Torin
Ray
Arnold
Saul
Alfred
Vincent
River
Milo
Leo
Peter

MikeUniformMike · 27/03/2018 21:30

Bishop - No. It's absolutely awful.

Hunter - ok
Oakley - not sure. no.
Harrison - ok
Mason - no
Blake - quite like it.
Bennett - maybe.

Sarahh2014 · 27/03/2018 21:35

Mason but I'm biased as my son has that name lol

marmitecrumpets · 27/03/2018 21:44

Belle and Blake.
Blakely?

User27839494 · 27/03/2018 21:44

I think maybe I’m the weird one here but Bennet just makes me think of the saying ‘Gordon Bennett!’-but I love a nana phrase!😂

pilates · 27/03/2018 22:06

Not to my taste but if I had to choose one it would be Harrison

LoveInTokyo · 27/03/2018 22:09

“All the names in your list are surnames. How about looking at a list of first names?”

^ THIS.

BigPinkBall · 27/03/2018 22:19

None of them are names I’d choose personally and I think a lot will depend on your surname, is it short or long?

but here’s what sprung to mind when I saw your names in case that helps:

Hunter - wellies
Oakley - sunglasses
Harrison - Ford
Mason - jars
Blake -
Bishop - what!? That’s not a name!
Bennet - Should that be spelled Bennett?

Dixiestampsagain · 28/03/2018 01:47

I’d go for Harrison (well, I already have!)

mumgointhroughtorture · 28/03/2018 01:59

Carter
Bobby
Cole
Lennon
Harry
Eli (jah)

I personally think Fletcher is cool .
