Girl and boy name to go with Ella and Amelie?

Have huge mega lists and feel like I've exhausted every name possible. Current DDs Ella and Amelie and need a boy or girl name for third DC on the way :)

I like slightly unusual/'hipster' names (Ella was unusual 10 yrs ago!!) but simple to spell/say and pretty. For a boy I tend to lean towards the Hebrew names like Noah etc, but would love something a little more unusual. For example; I like Bodhi but I know I won't convince my husband ! No J names due to surname.

@bridgetreilly I love Coraline but have never come across it in real life...is it pronounced CORA-line (long orr) or Coral-ine?

@bridgetreilly and I assumed it's (washing) line rather than "leen" ?! Maybe this is reason not to choose it haha!

For a girl, the first name I thought of was Ava, but not sure if it sounds too similar to Ella? I feel like you need a fairly short name, and nothing too frilly, if that makes sense.

How about

Flora
Iris
Grace
Cara
Orla
Iona
Mabel

For boys, I love previous suggestions of Reuben and Nathaniel. Also

Francis
Samuel
Isaac
Thomas
Lucas

Celeste is too close to Ella I would think. And as for the person who suggest Elliot, I assume they can't be serious.

If you like Coraline, there is also a French name Coralie (pronounced -lee) which might suit?

Pandoraphile · 25/03/2018 00:25

Eliana
Max

Pandoraphile · 25/03/2018 00:26

Pronounced Ell - E - AR - NA

sycamore54321 · 25/03/2018 03:04

Ella and Eliana? Surely not.

RainbowdropsandUnicorns · 25/03/2018 09:33

How is Celeste too close to Ella?

Aurea · 25/03/2018 09:43

Maybe Ella from Stella (star), although Ella means light. Celeste means heavenly I think. I think it's a beautiful correlation.

RainbowdropsandUnicorns · 25/03/2018 10:16

Thanks, Aurea

Annabelle4 · 25/03/2018 15:24

Alexander

Olivia

sycamore54321 · 25/03/2018 17:01

I meant they sound too closely alike for me, with the long "El" first syllable in both.

marchblossom · 25/03/2018 21:35

@sycamore54321 I actually really love Coralie but thought much too matchy with Amelie !
