Bertie or Albert? Or something else!?

I still have a few months to decide but really like Bertie! However, I’m a bit worried that it would be cute on a toddler but not ideal for a teen or adult so was wondering if he would need a more formal name. I like Albert and I guess then he could also be Al or even Albie.

What do you think? What else could Bertie be short for? Do I need to have a more formal “real” name behind it!?

Bertie could also be short for Bertrand, which is a cool name and not used as much as Albert (if that matters to you).

I prefer Bertrand but also like the fact that Albert has extra nickname options, Albie is cute.

DH just came in and informed me that bets are being placed with top boys name for HRH Cambridges new baby is bloody Bertie / Albert! I really hope they have a girl now!! Luckily Catherine is supposedly due soon and I’m not due until July!!

I'd go for Robert in case he is cool. Albert is such a ninety year old toothless man name and Bertie is very horn-rimmed glasses, incoordinated teacher's pet imo.
