Sorry but I agree Teddie is just awful and makes me think of cheesy Ann Summers lingerie. Theodore if you really must call her Teddie then she has options as an adult.

ShortandAnnoying · 21/03/2018 09:31

I agree you should give her the full name Theodora and call her Teddie at home, that gives her a lot

options of Thea and Dora if she prefers a more grown up shortening when she's older.
Middle name I prefer Rose of your options

lifechangesforever · 21/03/2018 09:40

Our DD is going to be Thea Rose and I think it's beautiful, we may call her Teddie as a nickname I suppose (but unlikely) but Thea will suit all through her life.

I LOVE Theodora but DH doesn't so we've met in the middle with the shorter version. Theodora with the option to call her Teddie yourself would be much better for her in the long run.

I say that as someone who actually likes the name Teddie but agree with PP on this one.

Why are people so unoriginal with middle names -- not that it matters I suppose 😂

I have to say Teddie isn't a name that I like. It's a bit twee.

EleanorXx · 21/03/2018 11:49

It’s a cute nn, but put Theodora or Edwina on the birth certificate, so she has options when’s she’s a woman.
Theodora Faith
Theodora Rose
Theodora Pearl
Edwina Grace
Edwina Faye
Edwina Violet

EleanorXx · 21/03/2018 11:50

*When, not when’s

NameChange30 · 21/03/2018 11:54

Theodora Rose is lovely
Theodora Faye works too

NOT “Bay” and if you’re set on May, use that spelling, not “Mai”

Kokeshi123 · 21/03/2018 12:01

Teddie is really, really awful, sorry. Please don't do this to your child. She will resent you for it.

Call her Teresa or something and save Teddie for the nickname (if she will put up with it).

Talith · 21/03/2018 12:04

I quite like Teddie Lynn. Or Teddie Rae.

I do think she's at a high risk of teasing with that as a first name though.

olderthanyouthink · 21/03/2018 12:15

Teddie should be a nickname only. I like Theodora.

No bay, or mai.

I like sage and pearl.

QuantamBaby · 21/03/2018 12:28

Teddie is a cute nick name for a small girl. It's not the sort of name you want to be lumbered with as an adult - give her a proper name and then she has options.

I rather love Theodora but how about Thea, Edeline, Edith, Edda - they could all lead to a nickname of Teddie.

MikeUniformMike · 21/03/2018 19:55

Teddy is fine as a nn. Teddie looks like spelling mistake.
Give the girl a classic middle name or use Teddy as a short form of Theodora, Edina or Edwina.

MikeUniformMike · 21/03/2018 19:57

Teresa May sounds like a name a prime minister could have.

hannah1992 · 21/03/2018 20:02

There is a boy in my dds class called teddy. Nobodies batted an eyelid about it. It’s not a name I would choose personally though

Snowsnake · 21/03/2018 20:05

Sounds like a great name for a dog ..not so for a solicitor or a doctor....joking aside
Surely the registrar won't allow a dogs name for a child

Ivebeenaroundtheblock · 21/03/2018 20:13

hannah1992. Teddy is a generally male NN. you would never know if that is his official name, he could be a Ted, Theodore, or Edward.

Sorry OP calling a little girl Teddie is immature. my spellcheck doesn't even like it.

Seconding the idea of naming her Thea, nickname Teddie.

NameyMcChangeRae · 21/03/2018 20:32

Teddie Bay is horrific 😂😂😂😂
The sort of name that becomes a hilarious story amongst healthcare professions.
Laughing at the parents absolute stupidity, and lack of class
Biscuit

RavenWings · 21/03/2018 20:32

Teddie - immediately thought of lingerie or a soft toy. Besides that, it's just so infantilising. You're really naming an adult here, not a baby. PPs suggested nice names that would actually suit an adult and could nickname Teddie.

hannah1992 · 21/03/2018 21:11

No his name is just teddy. I know someone else with a boy called teddy too. Never heard it on a girl though

Twelve8Ts · 21/03/2018 22:27

Love the name Teddie. Some of the comments here are very dramatic! Not everyone wants Olivia, Emily, Isla. It’s hardly like calling a girl Paul or John. Some people prefer a bit of character. Good for you!

Mookie81 · 21/03/2018 22:35

Ruxpin

Kokeshi123 · 21/03/2018 23:55

It's not a binary choice between "Olivia, Emily, Isla" vs something silly like "Teddie."

There are hundreds of names suggested on this board each week (and 1000s more in the baby name books), most of which would be far better than Teddie.

Contesse · 21/03/2018 23:59

Teddie? Teddie-Bae???

Wtf is wrong with you. That's a joke of a name for a person.
