NerosFiddle · 14/03/2018 19:30

Dr who

martellandginger · 14/03/2018 19:30

Clara’s are always maids or servants in old fashioned plays.

elisa2502 · 14/03/2018 19:34

It's hideous! All the ones I've ever taught have been vindictive.

OutyMcOutface · 14/03/2018 19:34

Brown hair

emwithme · 14/03/2018 19:37

Long Distance Clara, then Doctor Who.

Neither of these are enough to take it off our girl list though.

(In my head Clara plays piano and something slightly less mainstream - cor anglais/French horn/cello)

susurration · 14/03/2018 19:41

Dr Who and The Nutcracker.

Also a lovely little girl with a brown haired bob, a red ribbon in her hair and blue eyes 😍

Raeven · 14/03/2018 19:55

Back to the future 3

daisypond · 14/03/2018 20:02

Nutcracker and Heidi, so therefore I imagine a rich upper-class teenager. As names percolate through a generation and into mass consciousness it does end up as a servant name though - but that's like lots of names - Harriet and Ada are like that too. But I think Nutcracker and Heidi first.

madsiemoomoo · 14/03/2018 20:07

Pigeon street's long distance Clara

SavoyCabbage · 14/03/2018 20:11

A Friesian. I don’t know why though.

dodobookends · 14/03/2018 20:13

Clara in the ballet The Nutcracker.

YaBasic · 14/03/2018 20:13
Tardis

Below stairs

YaBasic · 14/03/2018 20:18

oh and Clara Hutt, from India Knight's My Life On A Plate. A decent character who was utterly rewritten/ruined in two shoddy sequels

drth12 · 14/03/2018 20:21

the nutcracker.

Camomila · 14/03/2018 20:21

Oswald in Dr Who

And a drippy friend from 6th form

ilovevenice · 14/03/2018 20:26

An ongoing debate with my aunt who believed English Claras should be pronounced Claira, while German ones were Claara (she also said English Marias were traditionally pronounced Mar-eye-a while Italian/Spanish ones were Mar-ee-a). Something to think about!!

fannyanddick · 14/03/2018 20:32

Heidi book and a little girl who's friends with my son.

Totorosfluffytummy · 14/03/2018 20:35

Heidi here too. Clara is a lovely name.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/03/2018 20:37

Nothing really. It's just a lovely name to me.

AnyaMoondial · 14/03/2018 20:51

I have a friend called Clara who pronounces it Claire-a. It took me a while to get used to this but now I struggle to pronounce it the other (more popular) way.

TheOrigBrave · 14/03/2018 21:06

Heidi and a very good friend. I might have used it if I'd had a daughter.
It's strong and feminine. No nonsense. No soppy nicknames.
