Just found out I’m preggers with number 2!
Have a 3 year old called Lily.
Lily’s always been my favourite girls name and I love it. I like how it’s an old name, but not fusty, and how it means purity and light. Popularity doesn’t bother me, obviously!

If it’s a boy, it’ll be Henry.

For a girl, we can’t agree. I like:

Anna
Martha
Charlotte
Iona

DH likes

Frances
Olivia

Thoughts?

I love Anna Martha and particularly Iona.

I think you need to discount Olivia in case Lily and Livy.

mondler · 12/03/2018 21:31

Congrats! I love Martha and Charlotte. I think both would work well with Lily too.

badg3r · 12/03/2018 21:36

Anna all the way.
Prefer Marta to Martha.

thiskittenbarks · 12/03/2018 21:37

Anna and Charlotte are great as is Frances. The others are nice but not quite so classic. Depends what you want. Olivia is a lovely name but almost every baby girl I know who's been born recently has been called Olivia- I know you said popularity doesn't bother you though!

NameyMcChangeRae · 12/03/2018 21:41

I’m not a fan of Olivia, so that ones off the list!
I quite like Frances, it’s got the old vibe I’m looking for. Not sure about the shortening s though. DH LOVES it, because he’s a film geek and loves Frances McDormand, and likes Nirvana.

Any suggestions for other names I might like?

Harriet?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/03/2018 21:48

Lily and Anna.
Olivia is very pretty. However I know 2 siblings Lily and Olivia and I've always found it a weird combination. They sound too alike, probably because they've both got the li sound in them.

PinkLemonade4 · 12/03/2018 21:50

I would go with Anna or Iona.

Martha and Frances are very wet names.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/03/2018 21:52

Other suggestions.
Rose. Sarah. Kate. Clara. Alice. Megan. Maude. Mabel. Emma. Eva. Julia. Ava.
Daisy. Heidi. Alex. Erin.

NameyMcChangeRae · 12/03/2018 21:53

I love Emma, actually..

Iona, but I'm biased.

If I had another DD I'd choose Ophelia.

Joeybee · 12/03/2018 22:06

Anna - Nice, simple, classic...but a bit boring.
Martha - Like this name, it's old fashioned but not clunky and it's a name that could grow with a child.
Charlotte - For me too popular, but if popularity isn't an issue for you, then this is an ace name. Lots of nickname potential, it's a classic name that won't go out of style.
Iona - I like this, it's different, but not weird! Iona and Lily go well together too.
Frances - Very plain and boring and dated.
Olivia - Waaaaay too popular.

AhWoof · 12/03/2018 22:09

I know a family with 3 children - sounds like they have the same taste in names as you! They have Lily, Henry and Phoebe.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/03/2018 22:09

Love Frances, Martha and Emma.

Afternoon · 12/03/2018 22:12

Grace
Clara
Julia
Thea
Marnie
Faye
Rosa
Georgia
Sarah

MikeUniformMike · 12/03/2018 22:22

Anna - Yes
Martha - fine
Charlotte - fine
Iona - no, especially if your surname is also a noun. Iona Carr, Iona Wood...

Frances - yes but will be misspelt as Francis, and will be shortened to Fran or Fanny.
Olivia - yes but it's very popular.

Of the names listed, I'd choose Anna.

eitherneither · 12/03/2018 22:32

Vivienne
Valerie
Iris (although can you have two flowers?)

Fran is lovely as a nn for Frances

AnyaMoondial · 13/03/2018 05:15

Anna and Emma are both great.

Jane?

MiniAlphaBravo · 13/03/2018 06:39

You have better tast than your dp Smile I like all your names. Other vintage sounding names you might like
Pearl
Ada
Alice
Bonnie

NameChangeDestroyer · 13/03/2018 07:55

Iona but it depends on the surname

ForeverHopeful21 · 13/03/2018 16:41

I know you said popularity doesn't bother you but I'm a pregnancy massage therapist and the two most common names I hear over and over are Olivia and Charlotte.

How about Alice, Meredith, Claudia, Susanna??

LoveInTokyo · 13/03/2018 19:34

I love Anna.

Clara or Rosa?

Smoliver · 13/03/2018 19:45

I like Anna, Martha and Frances. Nice, classic names that would go well with Lily.
