Guessing Game

Thought this would make a fun thread and maybe also provide names for people that are choosing that they wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

Think of a name (your child's or any name really) and provide 3 clues.

Other posters have to guess the name and once someone gets it right, it's their turn!

I'll start:

2 syllables

Very definitely a boys name but there is a feminine version

2 very common abbreviations/nicknames

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HecatesBroom · 13/03/2018 20:19

I think we had Lucifer a few pages back

masktaster · 13/03/2018 20:22

Well bother, I only read the first few. Gimme a minute, baby's fussing

masktaster · 13/03/2018 20:29

Floral/gem name
Sometimes associated with a beach toy

HecatesBroom · 13/03/2018 20:45

I'm wracking my brains looking for the beach toy: frisbee? bucket and spade? Lilo (and Stitch? Unlikely)
A flower and a gem?

user1459464195 · 13/03/2018 20:47

Yep, we might need another clue please. The beach toy has me stumped! 🤔

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 13/03/2018 20:49

Coral?

It’s the only thing I can think of that may link those things. Hmmmm

8DaysAWeek · 13/03/2018 20:51

Jade?

masktaster · 13/03/2018 20:51

Hecate has the right beach toy.

It's the name of a flower, but also a gemstone (according to behind the name).

Name of a character in a 90s sitcom

masktaster · 13/03/2018 20:52

Nope

applesandpears56 · 13/03/2018 20:55

Hyacinth!

sleepycat13 · 13/03/2018 20:56

pearl?

masktaster · 13/03/2018 20:58

You're up apples!

8DaysAWeek · 13/03/2018 20:58

Hyacinth makes sense for everything but beach toy!?

8DaysAWeek · 13/03/2018 20:59

Bucket of course!!!!

user1459464195 · 13/03/2018 21:00

Of course! Well done @applesandpears56!

Great clue @masktaster

Keep em coming folks - this thread is keeping me sane tonight after a long day with a teething 3 month old!

masktaster · 13/03/2018 21:00

Pronounced Bouquet, naturally Grin

HecatesBroom · 13/03/2018 21:00

Hyacinth Bucket.... that snobby women who insisted her name was pronounced "bouquet" (boo-kay)

applesandpears56 · 13/03/2018 21:06

Female name, the start of the day, a potential nickname is Gaelic and male

user1459464195 · 13/03/2018 21:08

applesandpears56 · 13/03/2018 21:09

PhoebeFriends · 13/03/2018 21:10

sleepycat13 · 13/03/2018 21:10

Dawn?

PhoebeFriends · 13/03/2018 21:11

Oops

user1459464195 · 13/03/2018 21:14

Woo hoo! OK, I'm trying to go very cryptic with this one:

Girls name, three syllables
Cartoon cat + 1 + denoting personal ownership

Also, to save on repetition (and to avoid reading through the whole thread), these are the names submitted to this thread so far:

Andrew, Serafina, Eli, Verity, Juliet, Agatha, Phoebe, Frances, Rebecca, Thomas, Cecilia, Leonard, Bianca, Charlotte, David, Martha, Piper, Donald, Peter, Niamh, Lucifer, Demelza, Nevaeh, Alexander, Christopher, Miranda, William, Robert, Jack, Jude, Rachel, Hyacinth, Aurora, ?

(Yes, I'm keeping a list and yes I'm a geek....)

masktaster · 13/03/2018 21:18

You missed Basil on your list
