Sibling for Theodore

Hi All

I would love some advice on names please. I have a DS called Theodore (most often referred to as Theo). I tend to like names that I consider 'traditional' but not over used. I've just found out I'm expecting a little girl and I'm finding names really hard, would love some opinions. My two favourite girls names (Ava and Evelyn) have both been taken by family and friends, and I don't want anything too similar. I'd like something 'strong' but still pretty. The current contender is Romilly. It's not that usual and I wonder what people's impressions are of it? I also like Isabella but it's very popular and I'm not sure I feel a strong personal connection to it. Does anyone have any ideas?

All lovely names.
Annabella or Isadora are similar in feel to Isabella but less popular.

Felicity. Jemima. Amanda. Rebecca. Ottalie, VerIty, Clara

May fit your taste.

tigerrun · 09/03/2018 23:27

Juno or Katy - I have boys & they were my favourites.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/03/2018 23:56

I like the suggestion of Isadora. However I wouldn't put it with Theodore as they both have Dor in.
Some ideas. Theodore and.
Beatrice/rix. Matilda. Abigail. Elizabeth.
Caitlin. Maxine. Jasmine. Claudia.

Theodore and Melody compliment each other well... or Elodie if you prefer to sidestep Mel as a nn

Thank you all so much for the lovely suggestions, there are some I really like there!

@PanannyPanoo I also have another niece called Annabelle, so couldn’t use anything too similar to that either. Love Ottalie and Clara! Adding both to my shortlist, thank you! X

@tigerrun Juno is gorgeous, hadn’t thought of that. Husband loves Hero and is pushing for it, and it feels similar to that. That would be a top choice for me too, only we call our Theodore ‘Theo’ a lot and the I think it sounds too similar. As a middle name though, works really well!

@Frank83 ahh we have the same dilemma then! I LOVE Margot but unfortunately DH has veto-ed it. Also loved (but he didn’t) Iris. If it was a boy it was going to be Monty :)

@NameChangeDestroyer I really like Anya, that will go on the short list!

@RainbowdropsandUnicorns Christabel is pretty but I would worry to similar to my other niece Annabelle! Sarah is my name :)

@Robinredface such a pretty pair of names, Clementine is beautiful! But do you ever get people sing that song to you? Love Juliette but a neighbour has used that last year, Eliza is lovely as well x

@Petalflowers hadn’t thought of Freya - really like this! Francesca DH and I both like but I dislike ‘Frankie’ so makes it difficult!

@LastNightsMakeUp Elodie is lovely, I like Eloise as well but I do have a friend called that. Not that it’s a deal breaker but it’s that thing where it just reminds you of that person you know!

Some definite food for thought x

Eleanor? I had Theodore as our boys name but we had a girl

LovelyBranches · 12/03/2018 20:16

I love the Ancient Greek names, Thea is my favourite but that’s obviously too close. How about Hera or Juno?

MikeUniformMike · 12/03/2018 20:19

I think you'll find it's Ottilie.

Theodore and Clara, sounds just beautiful.
