Ambra

We have two daughters, Cinzia Scarlett and Luisa Evangeline. My husband is Italian, I am not and when we had Cinzia, we agreed that our children would have an Italian first name and English middle name. We also agreed that our daughters first names would be tailored, classy and not flouncy. So, we settled on Cinzia for our first daughter and Luisa for the second. Now, we are having our third daughter and like the name Ambra. I want to know how it would translate with a general audience. We liked Chiara but didn't like that we would then have a Cinzia and a Chiara. We liked Elettra with Luisa but I am not as keen on it anymore. The other names we have discussed this pregnancy are Bianca Claire and Vivia Iris.
Ambra would be Ambra Penelope L--.

Vivia iris is nice. Ambra just sounds like Amber spelt wrong to me and I think that would be the main issue with the name. X

I think everyone might end up calling her Amber.

Love Iris, BTW. Perfect name.

Agree with others that people will think it's Amber.

Prefer Bianca.

Love Cinzia and Luisa. I think I'd go with Bianca Claire.
I'm not keen on Vivia, and Ambra would get confused with Amber.

Of your list I prefer Bianca.

I like it.

Bianca will always be bianca butcher from eastenders for me! not classy! Grin

I’ve never heard the name Ambra before and in isolation would assume a misspelling of Amber.

Presumably a lot if people will know it’s Italian because they know your family, but as she gets older it won’t be the same.

I like Vivia most of all your options.

I love Vivia. It’s a beautiful sounding name. I do like Ambra too, but I wouldn’t trust most people to not find it just too confusing. Maybe you won’t care about that though - and why should you? If you like it, then go with it.

Oh I think Ambra is lovely! I've not heard it before but I think it's beautiful.

Vivia is beautiful and sounds like it has a beautiful meaning (no idea if it actually does! Haha!)

Ambra is one of the main characters in Dan Browns latest book. She's Spanish though.

Lovely, unusual name!

I agree with others - 'English ears' I think would hear "Amber". She'd spend a lot of her life correcting people. However, it is a name that sounds nice, so it is tricky. Bianca is more widely recognised I think,

Vivia is lovely I've never heard it

Vivia is wonderful. May be misheard as Vivian though, like with Amber-Ambra

I love Ambra - never heard of it before.
Yes, people may initially think you are saying Amber, but don't let that put you off if you like the name. It's a lot easier to pronounce than Cinzia (which I also love).
Vivia is lovely too.
Bianca is my least favourite - probably because it's more popular in the UK than the other nanes you like. Your other names are nicer.

Vivia, for me it conjures up full of life/spirit, someone with a real zest for life, always inquisitive, always trying new things, always happy.

Vivia Iris is gorgeous. Less keen on Ambra for the Amber thing and sounds Spanish to me as in Alhambra.

Ambra is beautiful. Where I live, there is a real diversity of names of different origins so it probably wouldn’t be confused with Amber.

I’ve also heard Alba used (sunrise/dawn in Italian, as I’m sure you’ll know) and also Ilaria, in case these are helpful.

i don't think Bianca goes with Cinzia and Luisa. I think Ambra is really lovely

Ambra is lovely. Personally, I don't think it will be confused with Amber. I like Vivia and Elettra (although think the latter will be seen/heard as Electra). Not keen on Chiara (as already know one or two) and Bianca (as it reminds me of Bianca Butcher).

Vivia and Elettra are stunning! How have I never heard of either of them before?!

Ambra is absolutely lovely too but I agree that it might get annoying if she's constantly misktaken for Amber.

Your daughters' names are just beautiful.

Ambra is lovely, and I don't think it will get confused with Amber, especially if you live somewhere reasonably cosmopolitan.

I like all your other choices too, except Bianca (EastEnders has ruined it for me..)

If you live anywhere near Bristol people may assume you have a connection with Ambra Vale. Nice spot.
