I absolutely love the name River! Would you use it for a boy or a girl and middle name suggestions for each please! DH loves it for a girl but not so keen for a boy, I love for both!

I like it very much.
I only know of two,River Reeves from Viola Beach and River Phoenix but it is a good name.

Winchester13 · 05/03/2018 08:52

Love it! I love the name Phoenix too haha

Sophronia · 05/03/2018 09:09

I like it for a boy

BingBunnyTheBrat · 05/03/2018 09:24

I know two Rivers born in the last two weeks! Both girls.
Middle names are Rose and Willow

BelindasRedPlasticHandcuffs · 05/03/2018 09:30

River for a girl makes me think of The character from Firefly/Serenity.

It's one of my favourite 'out there' names though!

happytobemrsg · 05/03/2018 09:32

It's different (I've never known a River) but I really like it

akpounce · 05/03/2018 09:32

My 9 year old daughter is River. It's pretty much always well received!

DiegoMadonna · 05/03/2018 10:21

It's a boy's name for me.

Raisinbrain · 05/03/2018 10:27

I really like it and I don't normally go for "out there" names.
It's a boys' name to me but I guess it would be ok for a girl too.

FreeNiki · 05/03/2018 10:28

Jamie Oliver's youngest is named River.

May put you off, may not.

I like it.

Cosmoa · 05/03/2018 10:29

It's very much a unisex name in my experience. I have met about 2 of each and didn't bat an eyelid! They have all been beautiful children! Jamie Oliver has a son called River Rocket actually Smile

nobutreally · 05/03/2018 10:29

Love it - different but not weird iykwim. I would think of River Song (Dr Who) and River Pheonix, so wouldn't bat an eyelid for either sex.

Pinkponiesrock · 05/03/2018 10:29

I know a 6 month old little boy called River, I really like it but it would never have been a name that DH and I would have agreed on.

GRW · 05/03/2018 11:38

I like it for both. I also like Reeva for a girl which has a similar sound.

DreamingOfAHotBeach · 05/03/2018 11:58

I love it

Potteryprincess30 · 05/03/2018 14:39

River is lovely, I always really liked 'Lake' for a boy too

Potteryprincess30 · 05/03/2018 14:41

@GRW Reeva is such a lovely name but it will always bring a feeling of sadness in its association with Reeva Steenkamp for me

notacooldad · 05/03/2018 22:28

River is lovely, I always really liked 'Lake' for a boy too
DP's friend has a granddaughter called Lake.

dancingunicorns123 · 05/03/2018 22:44

Thanks everyone! I like River Grace, our begins with A and ends in well, sounds a bit like Maxwell. Do you think this goes? Do you have any other suggestions?
