Boys name struggle...

I have a DS, we knew exactly what his name should be throughout the pregnancy. We weren’t planning on more than one, but changed our minds and I am now expecting a DS2. I had girls names as I hadn’t used any, but now we known it’s a DS I find I don’t have much idea of names! After a big search through name lists these are ones that DH and I agree mighth be possible. I have to say my favourite is Jude, I like that it’s strong and short.

So we are looking at

Jude
Joshua
Christian
Hugo
Theodore/Theo
Ivan
Sebastian
Hector
Rufus

Any thoughts?!

Out of your list I particularly like Jude, Joshua, Ivan, Hector. But I think my favourite is probably also Jude.

Some other names in a similar vein:

Joel
Jonas
Ivor
Benjamin
Casper
Lucas
Nathaniel

I like Hugo, Theo, Hector and Rufus from your list.

Rufus

IVfly DS1 is Nathaniel Grin so nice to see we are on the same track!

Theo is probably the next most likely name. My Mam says Rufus is a dog’s name Hmm

I like Joshua best.

Petalflowers · 04/03/2018 17:26

Good list of names, and falls into the 'not top ten, but not weird and wonderful ' category.

Similar names:
Gene
Remy
Conrad
Avery (heard this name twice on to recently)
Luke
Barnaby

And Phineas (The greatest Showman inspired)

I'm biased towards Joshua as that's my eldest sons name. I love Theodore with nn teddy and have it on my list but worried it won't suit an adult. Christian is also nice and would have had it on my list but have a cousin (who I don't see though) with the name.

Buglife · 04/03/2018 17:58

petal I like Barnaby! Not top 10 but not too weird is definitely my aim. I seem to be drawn to biblical names as well.

chez Theodore is lovely and Teddy is a lovely nickname, would just be Theo when own adult though which sounds fine!

I also like Robin but have been vetoed. I love love the name Kit as a shortening for Christopher but DH really not keen.

DH says Titus. I think that’s a bit much?

Jude or Rufus

pipilangstrumpf · 05/03/2018 08:29

I like Jude and Rufus or how about
Quentin
Magnus
Jeremy

Zoflorabore · 05/03/2018 08:38

I wouldn't worry about the dog/cat thing
Op.

My ds is 15 now and is called Oliver. Pretty unusual in 2003 ( where we live anyway ) and he was named after a cat Blush

I was coming on to recommend Caleb but a pp beat me to it.

We also have a 7 yr old dd and when I was pg we had a girls name sorted but not a boys and had a huge list.

Ours was this from the ones I remember-

Sebastian
Jensen
Caleb
Mikey
Joshua
Dylan
Oscar

Afternoon from your list I previously suggested Gabriel but DH didn’t like it. He likes Tristan but I’m not keen on that!

I’m super struggling with boys names too but we have semi settled on Jonah so far, I’ll be watching this thread with interest however if that’s okay Grin

bridgetreilly · 05/03/2018 10:51

I really like Titus.

From your original list, I like Hector and Rufus best. Not a fan of Jude, tbh.

Buglife · 05/03/2018 16:44

I have to say DH is very pleased with all the Hector love on here! I said it was quite out there but he really likes it so he’s happy to have his preference validated Grin

pipilangstrumpf · 05/03/2018 17:14

I don't like the meaning of hector or the nickname Heck Shock
