Which is nicest out of those 3 names? I also like Aurora, Pixie and Wren

My favourite is Florence but it’s just too popular Sad

Can you imagine your own name being Blossom? Would you enjoy giving it to reception staff, would you like your GP coming into the waiting room to call you for your appointment "Blossom!"?

Fucking hell.

MrsElvis · 28/02/2018 19:29

My husband loves Effie as an idea for our DD. I felt it was too wishy washy nicknamey But a cute middle name maybe?

MrsElvis · 28/02/2018 19:30

What about something like Florence but with a twist

cloudybay27 · 28/02/2018 19:32

Don’t like Effie sorry but I do like all your other stuff however I would use blossom or bluebell only as a middle name as I think it is very cutesy and could not be taken seriously in some professions.

Florence is lovely but I agee quite popular. Other ideas are Robyn, Heather, Winter, April, Autumn, Amber, Lily, Rose, Flora all of who knows have a sort of ‘nature’ vibe like the others you’ve suggested but are more established first names.

Elfyn · 28/02/2018 19:32

Wren. Or Florence... Flora?

cloudybay27 · 28/02/2018 19:33

Flossie is a nickname for Florence which is lovely imo

loveisenough · 28/02/2018 19:40

I love Blossom, Bluebell and Wren from your list.
I know a Florence (age 12) and a Flo (age 14) but I wouldn't say it is an over popular name.

MrsCaecilius · 28/02/2018 19:41

The only Effie I know is feline. It's short for "that f**king cat"

Go with Florence!

MyKingdomForBrie · 28/02/2018 19:44

I’m really sorry but the first thing I thought of was cows too Blush my grandpa had a small herd and those are just the kind of names he gave them!

I like Aurora. I don’t like Florence either I have no idea why it’s so popular!

Sparklesdontshine · 28/02/2018 19:48

I love the names Winter and Autumn too, but she’s due in summer so my husband said no Angry

I like Wren best but Florence is probably the most sensible choice, Aurora is okay. The others are more suited to cows than people currently although fashions change with names all the time. I would pick the name you like best.

seeingdots · 28/02/2018 19:51

My first thought was this sounds like the Powerpuff Girls. I'd go for Florence or Wren off your list.

MammaAgata · 28/02/2018 19:53

I love blossom.. well I want to call my imaginary basset hound Blossom Blush. In fact she’s not that imaginary, as it’s the name of my basset hounds sister. Effie is so sweet too..

Evangelinedream · 28/02/2018 19:58

I think Aurora is the one that translates the best into adulthood from your list.

User278832 · 28/02/2018 20:01

My daughter is Effie (it’s a diminutive) she’s a lively and cheeky toddler with a wicked sense of humour and it suits her perfectly! Not to everyone’s taste but in my eyes it’s better than being a string of Olivias in her class. We have used a more formal name on the BC though for if she feels Effie is too ‘childish’ when she grows up.

User278832 · 28/02/2018 20:03

Also Florence is super, super popular where we live. There was at least one in every group we attended.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/02/2018 20:22

Florence is popular because it's so lovely 😊

RavenWings · 28/02/2018 20:37

Blossom - great on a rabbit, not a human.

Effie - I like it in theory but it's just a bit nothingy and insipid as a sound.

Bluebell - no. Belongs on a dairy cow.

Aurora - have taught two of these if popularity is a concern. It's a nice enough name though.

Pixie - cute for a little girl, horrible on an adult. It infantilises her.

Wren - this or Aurora are the best of the bunch imo.

Findingdotty · 28/02/2018 20:45

Effie is awful. Please don't use Effie. It makes think of 'effing' as in the shortened swear word if you see what I mean.

Findingdotty · 28/02/2018 20:46

Wren is cute. I like Blossom too but many don't. Bluebell does make you think of a cow, not too sure why though.

RuthW · 28/02/2018 20:50

Florence is unfortunately too common. I should know as I have a 21 year old one named when it was unheard of in anyone under 80.

I like Blossom.

mergrey · 28/02/2018 20:55

How about Aura instead of Aurora?

I don't think Florence is as popular as you may think. We run 2 big-ish nurseries and in 10 years have only had 1 Florence. You could have Florence, Flo or Florrie.

We've also had a Blossom but it used to remind be of the word 'bossom' and it used to get shortened to 'Bloss' anyway. She was a proper tom boy too, didn't suit her name at all!

You seem to like quite whimsical sounding names. How about:
Elora
Elodie
Beatrix
Phoebe
Marigold
Tabitha
Fleur
Primrose
Willow
Juniper

I don't LOVE all of those but you might?

Whatevszz · 28/02/2018 20:55

Aurora wren
Florence Bluebell
Florence Blossom
Aurora Florence

Like those combos ^^

Maybe Florence could be Effie as nn?

Palavra · 28/02/2018 20:57

I don’t think Florence is that popular is it? I’ve never met one! Wren is sweet for a child and could also suit an adult. Aurora is both definitely out there and incredibly unusual but also sounds more...namey? It fits the sound/rhythm (??) of girls names despite being so unusual so it’ll be easier for her to carry it. Also nickname potential for Aura, Rory, Ora etc. I do LOVE the name Wren though but I do think they’d have to be confident about their name in the future.

Are there any other Florence-like names you might want? Ada, Adelia, Cora, Esther, Susannah etc?

Palavra · 28/02/2018 21:03

Or nature names (going by aurora and wren) like Azalea, Zinnia, Ilana, Cerise, Cedar?
