Thoughts on Ezra?

What do you think of the name Ezra? Looking for a potential boy name to go with Noah.

Other name we like is Shai (pronounced "Shy") which got mixed reviews on MN but still a front runner.

The Ezra I know is lovely so it's a name I have positive associations with.

My friend had a boy a few weeks ago and called him Ezra, I quite like it.

I like Ezra and it goes well with Noah. Not so keen on Shai, sorry.

I just looked on google & is says Ezra is #53! I didn't realise it was so popular. I've never known anyone called it before

I love it! I always thought of it as a really pretty girls names and was surprised that it's not really used for both

But I also think it's beautiful for a boy too of course

@Cosmoa I call my DS beautiful all the time so if DS2 turns out anything like him the name will suit perfectly

I think of a friend who has a little Ezra and 2 excellently named siblings (whose names I won't share sorry as it could be quite outing!) Then I think of Ezra Pound. Lovely name.

I wouldn't use it because of the -a ending. It's feminine.

No, it's mentioned on about a third of all MN baby name threads.

It's THE name of 2017/2918. It's everywhere.

I really like it and know three under 2 called it. I think Pretty Little Liars has made it quite popular.

I love it! Good strong nice name, goes so well with Noah too.
Don't know of ANY round here, seems it's not taken off as a popular name here yet! (Scotland)

It goes with Noah but I don't particularly like it. It is whizzing up the charts but I suspect it won't be popular for long so will soon be dated.
It will get shortened to Ez or Ezzy.
Have a look at other OT names - Abel, Caleb or Enoch perhaps.
