DH quite likes this name. We threw it in as a suggestion to MIL who wrinkled her nose and said it sounds pretentious and “try hard”. We’ve had similar reactions from other friends and family. What do you think?

Other possibilities are:

Lucinda (Lucy)
Annabelle (Annie)
Charlotte (Lottie)

I love Lucinda !

Sar500 · 19/02/2018 19:58

I know a baby Beatrice and the family are not pretentious at all. I think it's a lovely name

NorthernLurker · 19/02/2018 19:59

I have a Beatrice. I think it's great. Bea is a lovely short and you can buy lots of bee things Grin

lemonsquisher · 19/02/2018 20:00

I like all your choices, Beatrice is probably my favourite though!

GreasyHairDoNotCare · 19/02/2018 20:02

I love it. Reminds me of the lady out of call the midwife though but that isn't a bad thing.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 19/02/2018 20:03

I love Beatrice & it's my favourite out of your choices. I don't think it's pretentious or try hard. I also like Beatrix.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 19/02/2018 20:04

Oh, and I wouldn't bother sharing name suggestions with family or friends before the baby is born!

scrappymeerkat · 19/02/2018 20:07

LOVE Beatrice!!

I wouldn't discuss any more names with anyone, you'll end up never picking one! People always have very different opinions!

daisypond · 19/02/2018 20:08

I love Beatrice. I certainly don't think it's "try hard". It's my favourite out of your list, though I do rather like Lucinda. I'm not keen on Annabelle (spelled like that), or Charlotte.

ChocolateCrunch · 19/02/2018 20:23

Prefer Charlotte (Lottie) from your list. Also like Annabel (Bella) - this spelling and nn.

AnyaMoondial · 19/02/2018 22:14

Beatrice is ace. Lucinda wins for me though Smile

Dontrocktheboat · 19/02/2018 22:17

Beatrice is lovely. Definitely not pretentious or try hard. Beatrix is nice too.
I only like Charlotte from your other choices - the others are a bit frilly.

ErinSophia · 19/02/2018 22:21

Beatrice reminds me of the Princess from the Royal Family, she's beautiful so it's not a bad thing.

youngestisapsycho · 19/02/2018 22:23

It’s my DDs middle name, after DHs gran... I love it.

TulipsInABlueVase · 19/02/2018 23:00

Beatrice by a country mile

mumgointhroughtorture · 19/02/2018 23:05

I love Beatrice and Charlotte (Lottie)

TinyTickler · 19/02/2018 23:13

My daughter is Beatrice. I love it. The name meaning is bringer of joy - tell that to anyone who wrinkles their nose! X

LoveInTokyo · 20/02/2018 07:33

Beatrice is a lovely name, I would go with that.

I don’t like Lucinda at all (Lucy is lovely but Lucinda is a bit pretentious and try-hard in my opinion).

I love Annabel but I think the Annabelle spelling is a bit flowery.

Charlotte is nice but quite a safe choice.

If I were you I would just choose a name and don’t share it with your friends or family until after she is born. It’s your choice after all, and people will be less free with their opinions when you’ve just been through labour and they are looking at your beautiful baby girl (called Beatrice).

rachrach2 · 20/02/2018 07:57

I really like Beatrice and Bea. Lucinda and Charlotte are lovely too.

FogCutter · 20/02/2018 08:07

Beatrice is a lovely name, I love Beatrix even more!

And it's not try hard or pretentious at all. Just a nice normal name.

Namechange16 · 20/02/2018 08:08

I think. Keep your name choices to yourselves. You cannot please everyone so just reveal when baby is born. People are much less likely to bad mouth a name attached to an actual baby!

theunsure · 20/02/2018 08:10

Beatrice is lovely - biased as it's on my list.

pipilangstrumpf · 20/02/2018 09:15

What does try hard mean? Shouldn't we try to find a perfect name, or just pick a random top 100 name?

Beatrice is nice.

mum2be2boys · 20/02/2018 09:57

All lovely choices, I think Lucinda is my favourite followed by Beatrice.
