Just what it says in the title?
Very honest opinions welcome on
Maximus for a baby boy. Maxi/max for short. What do you think when you hear this name?
Thank you.

I’m not too worried about what build he would be etc. I do think a person becomes the name. If he turned out anything like my first ds and my dh he would own the name anyways.
I just didn’t want it to sound to try hard/out there we aren’t like that as a family and as much as many people are picking unusual names and that’s fair enough up to them, it wouldn’t be my style.
It sounds like it’s not really that uncommon however going off some of the replies.
Smile Thank you

Gluteus. Just use Max.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 20/02/2018 20:59

I know a couple of little ones and a Leonides too (if that's spelt right), seems to be a bit of a trend.

Maximum makes me think of a big man, the biggest, like Goliath. It could be unfortunate, either if he is slight or heavy?

Incywincyteenyweeny · 20/02/2018 21:17

I am tall and dh is also very tall. So he won’t be small. We are average builds.
Could the same not be said of little girls names that seem very dainty and delicate? What if the girl grows up to be not so dainty. Like daisy etc.

That's why I wouldn't personally choose Grace, for example, as would be unfortunate if she turned out to be a strapping weightlifter. You asked what we thought, that is what came to my mind.

Seems a bit unreasonable to protest at my honest thoughts, when you haven't done so to anyone else's. If you only want positive comments, then say so, and we won't bother sharing our actual thoughts with you.

Incywincyteenyweeny · 20/02/2018 21:28

Calm down remote. Did I protest it what you said. Read my post. I was asking the opinion do you think the same could be said for certain delicate girls names as a further point of discussion. Not a protest. It was in a way acknowledging that your opinion has validity.
If you notice I said thank you further up thread. This was for all of the comments helping my decision on the name.

Perfectly calm, it's you that is being rude. Clearly you don't want honest opinions, unless they agree with you.

Incywincyteenyweeny · 21/02/2018 20:31

No remote. Several posters on this thread like the name, several don’t. It’s a public forum naturally I will get mixed responses as everyone’s tastes are different and people I think are more inclined to say what they honestly think about a name anonymously. Which is fine. That’s what I wanted, some other points of view.
You made a comment about if my child grew up to be a certain build could this perhaps be an issue. Am I right in thinking that? Which is fine you are entitled to your opinion thank you for offering it.
I said most likely child will probably be tall (but no guarantees with Mother Nature). Then I said could your point be applied to little girls who had a dainty name and grew up to be tall.
I thought I was making a further point of discussion on a discussion forum. Nothing strange about that.
I didn’t mean to be rude. Sorry if you took it that way.

Max is great. Maximus is Monty Pythonesque ‘Biggus Dickus’.

blinkineckmum · 22/02/2018 11:09

A lot to live up to!

SockEatingMonster · 22/02/2018 11:13

I went to school with a Maximillion and a Maxwell. Both were just called Max. Just snooped them both on Facebook, and they're both listed as Max. Maximillion was occasionally known as Maxim though, which is similar to Maximus.

pipilangstrumpf · 22/02/2018 14:29

Never heard of Maximilion, only know Maximilians

SockEatingMonster · 22/02/2018 15:31

It may well have been Maximilian, pipilangstrumpf

Joeybee · 23/02/2018 05:14

It's a bold name, I wouldn't be brave enough to use it myself. However it is a nice name and Max is a fantastic nickname. If you like that name, go for it.
