I know this is probably a safe choice but what doe you think? My husband liked this first time round but I felt it was to popularl, since going to baby groups with my Little one I haven’t really come across any.
Although I prefer the Isabel spelling I remember someone once saying they can’t get out of there head is a bell !! So hence Isobel consideration

I'd have had Isobel but it wouldn't have suited ds Smile
Lovely name

upsideup · 18/02/2018 18:39

Would definately go for Isabel rather than Isobel, not quite sure why though.

LoveInTokyo · 18/02/2018 18:53

I prefer Isabel. Lovely name.

GrooovyLass · 18/02/2018 18:54

I'm a Brownie leader. We currently have an Isabel and an Isobelle. Until recently we also had an Isabelle and an Isabella!

PaperdollCartoon · 18/02/2018 18:55

I prefer this Isobel spelling, Isabelle is the French version. Isabel just seems like someone couldn’t decide between the two.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 18/02/2018 18:57

I prefer Isobel. I've an 18 month DD and have only come across one at all the baby groups/classes (think she might be Isabel rather than Isobel).

DramaAlpaca · 18/02/2018 18:57

Isabel is the Spanish version & Isobel is Scottish.

Both spellings are nice but I have a slight preference for Isobel.

LoveInTokyo · 18/02/2018 18:58

I know more Isabels than Isobels - it’s definitely a fine and legitimate spelling in its own right. It is the Spanish spelling for a start.

I would like to call my daughter Isabel, but my husband is French and we live in France, so everyone would spell it Isabelle which is a bit too frilly for my tastes.

deptfordgirl · 18/02/2018 18:58

I really like it and much prefer the Isabel spelling.

essietopcoat · 18/02/2018 19:02

Great name, prefer Isobel as a spelling.

ew1990 · 18/02/2018 19:05

We've got a 3 month old Isobel

namechangedtoday15 · 18/02/2018 19:12

I have a tween Isobel - it was definitely popular then for a few years but not quite a popular now.

Isobel is a pp has said is the Scottish / English spelling. Isabel is the Spanish (earlier) version i believe which subsequently became the French spelling too - then Isabelle etc and all the other variants came along.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/02/2018 19:18

Isobel, lovely !

mum2be2boys · 18/02/2018 19:24

Lovely name. I prefer the Isabel spelling :-)

Ohyesiam · 18/02/2018 19:30

Beautiful name.

Threeandabit · 18/02/2018 22:00

I prefer the Isabel spelling.

I also love the name Christabel.

SparklingSnowdrops · 18/02/2018 22:04

I have an Isabel 😊

Baubletrouble43 · 18/02/2018 22:10

I have an isabel. I've always loved it xxx

RavenWings · 18/02/2018 22:34

It's incredibly popular in schools ime (Isobel, Isabel, Isabelle...much of a muchless). Nice enough name but definitely a safe choice that blends into the crowd.

17caterpillars1mouse · 19/02/2018 12:58

I love Isobel and uses it as one of my DD'S middle names. I didn't use it as a first name however due to popularity. It was important to me that my DD wouldn't be one of 3 in her class. Saying that I have only met to Isabel's under 3

Pemba · 19/02/2018 16:27

I like them both, but would probably go for Isabel. I think maybe this is the original spelling as it is the Spanish way, and I think the name originated there. Isabelle I find a bit too fussy (unless you're French). But I guess it doesn't really matter, as they are all pronounced the same!

bridgetreilly · 19/02/2018 17:54

Lovely name! And I don't think it's super-popular right now.

Could also consider:
Imogen
Isidora
Isolda

Glumglowworm · 19/02/2018 18:37

It’s a lovely name in all spellings (I’ve come across an Izabel before as well as the more common ones).

I prefer Isobel but it’s just a personal preference with no justification

UsernameInvalid66 · 19/02/2018 18:56

I like it a lot and I prefer the Isabel spelling. When I see Isobel written down, I sort of feel it ought to be pronounced like isobar!

TeaPleaseBob · 23/02/2018 11:23

I have an Isobel, we don’t know any others apart from much older women (have met a couple of Isabellas though). Obviously I love it and as we’re scottish went for Isobel rather than Isabel
