I really like it, I know 2 but very different ages.

I think it means something like 'baby' though, rather than it being a name with a meaning. Does that make sense?

Snoopy90 · 16/02/2018 22:28

Nice name:)

PooFlower · 16/02/2018 22:37

My dd is Alannah and it is an Irish term of endearment meaning darling child.
My dds is pronounced like Hannah Al-annah though not Al-ah-na.

NC4Now · 16/02/2018 22:39

It’s a nice name. It isn’t my personal taste but it’s pretty. Morisette, Miles, all OK in my book 👍🏼

Zaya71 · 16/02/2018 22:50

I love it. It's beautiful and fits my naming criteria of being recognisable without being popular. Would have had it for DD2 but DD1 is Anneka and so thought they clashed!

TulipsInABlueVase · 16/02/2018 23:05

It's okay. I've only ever seen it spelt 'Alana'. Quite like the shortening 'Lana'.

MoorMummy · 16/02/2018 23:08

I know this as the Irish term too (I’m not Irish but family are) , I love it

BakedBeans47 · 16/02/2018 23:10

I quite like it, also know people with other spellings eg Alana, Alanna

Thetruthfairy · 16/02/2018 23:11

Love it x

PaperdollCartoon · 16/02/2018 23:13

I prefer the Alana spelling, pronounced A-laa-nah. I know an Alannah who’s super cool so that always helps. It’s uncommon without sounding silly or made up - the perfect combo.

@NC4Now - it’s Alanis Morrisette, not Alannah

TimesNewRoman · 16/02/2018 23:20

I like it, only ever seen it spelt Alana. Think Lana is a cool nn too as in del ray.

PandaG · 16/02/2018 23:28

Like it, but the one I know is known as Laa-laa, just like the tellytubby, as it is what her sibling can pronounce.

llangennith · 16/02/2018 23:41

I’ve only known it as Alanna

cheshiremama89 · 16/02/2018 23:47

Reminds me of honey boo boo Blush

ChocolateCrunch · 17/02/2018 00:32

Like it, but people will pronounce it in different ways, so you could end up correcting it to your chosen pronunciation frequently.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/02/2018 07:06

I like it, but prefer this spelling, Alanna.

RavenWings · 17/02/2018 08:21

Love it. The Alannah spelling is best imo.

MikeUniformMike · 17/02/2018 10:46

Alannah or Alanna leave no doubts over the pronunciation. Al-ANN-a
Alana is Al-AH-na.
It's lovely.
