Just that really, I'm starting to worry I have a speech impediment because 90% of people pronounce it differently. Her grandmother called here Alana for the first 6 months.

I'd pronounce it as ee-lay-na.

Ell-ain-a or Ell-en-a with the emphasis on the second syllable in both instances.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 15/02/2018 08:47

Elle-arn-a

cece · 15/02/2018 08:49

I'd say it like Elaine but with an a at the end. Emphasis on the first E.

Redpramlady · 15/02/2018 08:51

E lay na

DragonsAndCakes · 15/02/2018 08:51

I’d say it like Elaine but with an a on the end, emphasis on the middle ‘ai’, but I wouldn’t be sure.

MammieBear · 15/02/2018 08:55

El-lay-na

knockknockknock · 15/02/2018 09:01

Ell-ay-nah. Tho wasn't there a girl on BNTM who pronounced it ell-ee-ar-na?

rainbowstardrops · 15/02/2018 09:22

I would pronounce it Elaine with an a on the end

KaosReigns · 15/02/2018 10:17

We pronounce it elaine with a on the end like most of you. Everyone else says Eleanor, ellen-a, ellie-ahn-a or dozens of other variations. Even when I say it as opposed to them having read it. Maybe I have a speech impediment that I'm unaware of.

Cockmagic · 15/02/2018 10:18

El ay ne ah

KaosReigns · 15/02/2018 10:18

It's a very old name, it's not like we made it up. We actually took ease of pronunciation in to account when choosing it so I'm pretty disappointed.
