What about these names?

We're having a girl, our first child, due in April, and have decided last name Catherine and middle name May. This may change however if the baby comes out really dark like my partner (I have been kindly warned by his also white mum that I will be mistaken as the baby's nanny a lot of the time especially as I'm young and stopped by airport security for the differences in skin tone at least once or twice). My middle name is May which I really like so I wanted to give her that rather than my last name which comes from my father who I rarely see and the only reason I haven't changed is because I have 3 residential visas and 2 passports tied to it making any name changes complicated.

Anyway sorry for the ramblings, here are our picks for the name:

Heather May Catherine
Lisa May Catherine
Anderson May Catherine
Willow May Catherine
Skye May Catherine
Paige May Catherine

Also thought about having 2 middle names, my mums called Joan and I thought Joanne would be a nice testament to her without it being too plain. Joanne would be first middle name.

I like Lisa, it's a pretty name and due a comeback. I also like Willow.

bluebabydinosaur · 07/02/2018 10:07

I like Heather and Willow. Yes, go for it, use your mums name. x

villamariavintrapp · 07/02/2018 10:46

Is Catherine the surname?

dkb15164 · 07/02/2018 11:02

@villamariavintrapp Yes, Catherine is the surname, it's got a lot of history on the dad's side coming from Mauritius. Is it weird that it's a first name? I had a Mrs Catherine at school but I know my partner's had a little bit of difficulty with it as a male.

Johanna might be a less dated alternative to Joanne.
Give her both surnames on the birth cert and passport to make your life easier, she can just use one surname at school.

Myddognearlyatethedeliveryman · 07/02/2018 11:21

Anderson May Catherine would be open for May Catherine Anderson forever I would expect!!
Willlow is my fav!!

FiremanSamsPole · 07/02/2018 11:33

I wouldn't use Anderson as that's a surname too and she might have to deal with people thinking her name is the wrong way around all the time. I love Skye!

RosieCotton · 07/02/2018 14:15

I have 2 middle names and a first name as my maiden name. I didn't find it an issue growing up. I love willow or Heather x

CherryTreeIsGrowing · 07/02/2018 15:13

I like two middle names.

My favourites from your list are Willow and Skye.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 07/02/2018 15:16

I have to admit I'm not really keen on any of your choices, but please don't call her Anderson!

How about Elizabeth, Lisa for short? Or Hazel or Rowan as a nicer nature-type choice?

MammieBear · 07/02/2018 15:28

I have joanne as a middle name and never really liked it I much prefer Joan, wouldn't say it's plain. Out of your names I'd say Heather May Catherine.

AnyaMoondial · 07/02/2018 15:28

Heather is beautiful. I prefer Joan to Joanne.

MammieBear · 07/02/2018 15:29

If you went for Joan as a middle I'd say Willow Joan May Catherine.

TimesNewRoman · 07/02/2018 15:34

Heather May Catherine is lovely.

If Catherine is the surname, it might be a little confusing to use the first name Anderson as these might often get switched (Catherine being a more common first name and Anderson being a more common Surname)

TatianaLarina · 07/02/2018 15:34

Heather May Catherine.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/02/2018 22:37

Heather May Catherine.

floriad · 07/02/2018 22:41

I don't like Anderson. the others are nice :)

MadameJosephine · 07/02/2018 22:46

I love Heather May, haven’t heard of a baby called heather for a long time. Beautiful

SuperBeagle · 07/02/2018 22:47

The only one I like is Willow May Catherine.

Meemzinha · 09/02/2018 07:28

Oooh wow Anderson is lovely!! Never heard that before. Love it Smile

TatianaLarina · 09/02/2018 09:52

People will just assume with Catherine as a surname that Anderson is the actual surname and the names have been printed the wrong way round.

NannyR · 09/02/2018 09:57

I love Heather and Lisa, I agree that Anderson Catherine could be a bit confusing.

dkb15164 · 09/02/2018 10:06

I think the general consensus seems to be Anderson is out - I chose it doing early pregnancy (perhaps with a touch of baby brain not thinking about the whole last name scenario) and we've gotten used to calling the bump Anderson now. Heather, Willow and Skye seem strong favourites. Both sets of grandparents like Heather and Skye while our friends who are in their 20s like Heather and Willow. Hopefully the baby looks like a Heather when she comes out, 65 days to go now. We don't like Elizabeth as my aunt is called Elizabeth but goes by Liz by everyone as she thinks it's Victorian, even at her work she is Professor Liz. So going by Elizabeth would be pointless as would get changed to NN anyway. Thanks for all the feedback though!

Skye, Heather and Willow are nice :)

But Willow seems a bit too "trendy" / might date.
I especially like Heather Joanne (May) and Skye Joanne (May).

You might also like Hazel :)

Heather
