We are thinking of using the name Oleia for our baby girl as love way it sounds and how unusual it is but can’t find a true meaning of the name or reason to believe it’s even a proper name!? We heard it once, googled it but not much has come up, anyone heard of this name?

Isn’t it the name of a hair dye? The one with oils in or some such..

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 06/02/2018 07:07

Sounds like the hair colour brand.

SuperBeagle · 06/02/2018 07:08

It doesn't come up on behindthename, so I don't think it's a "real" name.

Olia/Olya is a Russian name though.

Otherwise, there's Aaliyah and its various spellings, pronounced ah-lee-ah?

CryptoFascist · 06/02/2018 07:20

Reminds me of the song Feeling hot hot hot

SpottyBrolly · 06/02/2018 08:35

What about Olesya/Olessia? It's a Russian name that means protector of humanity. It has a similar feel.

Dixiestampsagain · 06/02/2018 09:56

I love Leia but if you’re adding an O, I prefer the spelling ‘Olaia’ (if that makes any sense!).

LadyOfTheCanyon · 06/02/2018 10:10

In my head it sounds like Oleaginous, meaning oily, slimy or overly obsequious. Sorry.

hollyberrytree · 06/02/2018 10:22

Say it a lot of times in a row and it sounds like a football chant.

Olé!

Sorry OP it’s a no from me

BrutusMcDogface · 06/02/2018 10:49

It reminds me of crisps that are fried in low oleic oil or whatever it's called! Sorry. Aria? Aaliyah? Lilia?

BrutusMcDogface · 06/02/2018 10:51

Laya/ leia/ laia (as in Princess Leia)

MikeUniformMike · 06/02/2018 12:18

Oilier.

Pidlan · 06/02/2018 12:19

O leia' is "at least" in Welsh.

Meemzinha · 06/02/2018 12:30

Love it but at the same time I can't help thinking of 'oil of olay'

ShutYoFace · 06/02/2018 12:35

Oleia is a type of snake oil peddled by woo merchants that they claim does lots of medical stuff that it does not.
It isn't a name for a child.

saritah · 06/02/2018 13:38

Sorry but it sounds like a beauty product, not a person!
