DS1 due in May. The hospital had originally told us we were expecting a daughter so after settling on the name Sophie, we now have to come up with a boys name! Me and OH don’t agree on many names. Just wondering what people think of, Jonah ?

So stuck- any help would be appreciated!

I like Jonah, almost made our shortlist but DH wasn't as keen as me. Sophie was on our girls shortlist so I'm thinking we may have similar tastes in names ...

It’s like I wrote your list of boy’s names! Jospeh was a firm favourite (OH didn’t like it surprise) and Zachary is Georgeous! I also really like Samuel but again it’s a no go :(

I quite like Jonah, and most of the names on Butterfly's list.

I love Jonah. It fits my criteria of a real name which is quite unusual. Lots of potential nns as well.

A friend has just had a baby and called him Jonah. They’re going to shorten it to Joe.

I loved Jonah but he is a Zach

I love Johan. Its a beautiful name. There aren't many around and it's wonderfully simple, he won't spend his life spelling it out for people and it's a good strong name.

My grandad was a fisherman so I have some hereditary superstition around the name Jonah!

I love the name Jonah, good choice OP. I'm currently carrying a boy, I found it really hard to pick a name. Had a list as long as my arm for girls names!

I love the name Jonah - classic but not over used.

I do think Jonah is nice, but I'd be put off because a Jonah is traditionally bad luck or jinxed - from the Bible story, I suppose. Jonas?

@daisypond - yes, I also look up the meanings and was a bit put off- just going to focus on the Hebrew meaning of “dove” instead lol

Jonah is nice, but I prefer Jonas.

Love Jonah but couldn't consider it as my eldest soon is Joseph. Jonah is classic, not too trendy, not too weird. Joe is a nice nickname too

So funny to read this; I thought of Jonah for pfb back in 1989, loved the name, never met another Jonah, thought it was a perfect name for baby, boy, and grown man.... then we decided to call our blond, blue-eyed new baby Oliver, which, unbelievably, was little used at the time.

My baby boy is named Jonah & his brother is Reuben I love biblical names & it's unusual without bring too out there.

If our dd would have been a bit she would have been Johan Sebastian
