Lara - longer name options

I'm considering Lara, it's fairly classic but not quite as classic as first two dcs names. Are there any longer names we could shorten to Lara?

Larissa is pretty.

I prefer Cara to Lara.

Larissa - beautiful Julie Christie in Dr Zhivago. Lovely name

Thanks for all the suggestions. We want something fairly classic to fit with our other dc names but will think about Lara/Cara/Larissa/Ilara/Elara. We know a Clara pretty well so that is out

I have a Lara and she’s told me she wishes I’d called her Larissa!

Dixiestampsagain · 02/02/2018 01:19

Have just remembered my DH wanted to call her Alaris (Lara for short)- I’m sure he made it up!

NoSquirrels · 02/02/2018 01:25

The Larissa I know does not get shortened to Lara. The problem is that the vowels don't quite work to sound right.

I'd go Ilara from your list. Unusual, but lovely.

Dilara (I think it is a Turkish name)

duckponds · 02/02/2018 10:34

I would stick to Lara if I were you, it’s classic in it’s own right and I don’t think any obvious suggestions have been made as a longer version

I know an Annalara but she goes by Anna.
