Help, we are stuck - we already have an Olivia, surname is a pretty common one, one syllable, beginning with C.

In no particular order:

Phoebe
Verity
Isobel/Isabel
Ottilie
Elodie
Saskia
Clementine (but probably not, due to alliteration).

It does bug me slightly how popular Olivia is, but it was our favourite at the time.

Any thoughts/alternative suggestions on the above welcome?!

Guessing your surname rhymes with bark, I think phoebe goes best.

MikeUniformMike · 30/01/2018 19:42

How about Clara?

deptfordgirl · 30/01/2018 19:44

I love Verity

namestress · 30/01/2018 19:56

Saskatoon is certainly one Id not thought of!!

Ok so not much consensus, just as in our house....I do like phoebe but just see Friends! (And the word ‘feeble’). I dislike the nickname Ellie so had discounted Eleanor...so that probably takes Elodie off the list. My husband isn’t sold on Verity and I’m not convinced Saskia ‘goes’ with Olivia....argh!!

Saskia is amazing!

I think you’d like Violet/Viola?

mondler · 30/01/2018 20:38

Phoebe - very pretty, quite popular so won't stand out from being from friends. I don't think feeble at all. For some reason I always picture a Phoebe as being quite feisty!

Verity - very pretty and goes well with Olivia.

Isobel/Isabel - seems very popular and personally isn't a fav.

Ottilie- Again not a fav of mine and both kids would have the same initials (not sure if that would bother you or not)

Elodie - if you don't like Ellie then prob not the best to pick

Saskia - I like it, don't see it often.

Other possibles: Heather, Grace, Harriet, Lily, Melody?

skankingpiglet · 30/01/2018 20:40

I have an Elodie. We usually use the full name but when it's (rarely) shortened we use Eddie we need to find her a Patsy. DD1 first started with it as she couldn't pronounce 'Elodie', and it stuck. She's never been called Ellie by anyone, but that may of course change once at school.

Verity is also a lovely name Smile

BrutusMcDogface · 30/01/2018 20:45

I love saskia, and think it goes well with Olivia.

I don't think verity goes with Olivia; too many v sounds, and if you go for Isobel you'll have two of the most popular girls' names. There are about a hundred girls called Isobel/Isabelle/Isabella/izzy in my kids' school.

BrutusMcDogface · 30/01/2018 20:46

I wish Elodie went with my surname; it's beautiful! Again- not sure if it goes with Olivia. Mind you, that shouldn't really stop you as it won't affect them in the future.

BrutusMcDogface · 30/01/2018 20:47

How about Sasha?

Pixel99 · 30/01/2018 20:50

Eloise?

SuperBeagle · 30/01/2018 20:52

Phoebe or Saskia.

twotired · 30/01/2018 21:01

I like phoebe and verity.

I couldn't have clementine. Main reason (and I know this is daft, don't hate me) is because it could be shortened to Clem and it sounds like phlegm Blush

namestress · 30/01/2018 21:22

We have an Eloise in the wider family so that’s out. Hadn’t considered multiple V’s in Verity and Olivia. Also agree re two ‘O’ names - this is too hard!!

Isolde is unusual and not sure I would have been brave enough to use it, but I love it.

Pixel99 · 30/01/2018 21:55

My DD has a name on your list and whilst I and she love the name I wish it wasn't so popular.

TenThousandSpoons · 30/01/2018 22:00

Like all your names except Clementine. Saskia favourite and think it goes well with Olivia.

Joeybee · 30/01/2018 23:39

Phoebe - LOVE it. An old name that's gaining popularity and rightly so.
Verity - YES!!!!! I love this name, it's feminine but strong and fiesty. Plus I think it'd go well with a 'C' surname.
Isobel/Isabel - NO! Too popular and too many ways to spell that name. The child would constantly have to spell out her name to people.
Ottilie - Not sure. It's...I dunno, I just hear 'otter' and it puts me off.
Elodie - I love this. Only thing is some people would hear 'Melody' and that'd be annoying.
Saskia - It's okay, but a bit of a bitch name.
Clementine - Not with a C surname.

MikeUniformMike · 30/01/2018 23:45

Olivia and Saskia go lovely with each other and
Saskia would go well with your surname, if it is what I think it is.

Buntysoven · 30/01/2018 23:57

Of these names, Saskia is by far my favourite. I think it goes beautifully with Olivia and is one of the hundreds of names I can't use thanks to a silly DH!
