I haven’t heard this name in ages!! Anyone thinks it’s due a revival? (Not ttc even, just heard it yesterday shortened to Joss)

I really like it but I've only seen it spelled with one s.

thepatchworkcat · 27/01/2018 12:36

Is it a boy’s name? Only ever heard of Josiah before with one ‘s’.

spugzbunny · 27/01/2018 12:45

Will you pronounce it Joss-iah rather than Joz-iah?

I personally prefer the one s spelling but if you are keen to change the pronunciation then the 2 s spelling makes sense

Standardpubquizname · 27/01/2018 13:30

Isn't it Josiah? I've come across quite a few in the last few years, all in Christian families and generally shortened to Jos

Notmyrealname85 · 27/01/2018 13:34

(Oops I can’t spell! Think it is one s)

It was just one of those rare times where I really had completely forgotten about a name, wondered if it was as rare as I thought :)

There is a toddler named Josiah at one of my dd’s classes. I think it’s quite cool. The biblical reference wouldn’t put me off especially.

There have been a few threads on here, reasonably recently, talking about it. So, I think the revival is here already - maybe even been and gone!

I know a little Josiah, shortened to Joss. Not sure if it's due for revival but biblical names are very popular at the moment.

Josiah Wedgwood was a good chap, if you're looking for positive associations.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/01/2018 18:18

Joss is also a shortening for Joseph.

AuntJane · 28/01/2018 17:17

I had a distant relation called Josiah, known as Uncle Josie.

MummyOf3JS · 28/01/2018 17:21

I have called my 19 week old baby boy this. Although only spelt with one S. I love it and the meaning behind the name is interesting also.

movingtowardsthelight · 28/01/2018 17:24

One of my favourite names. My eldest would have had this name but my husband didn’t like it.

LemonadeWithACherry · 28/01/2018 17:35

My grandad was Josiah, Joe for short.
