Shortlist for DD2

Snowhite12 · 23/01/2018 13:34

We seem to be really struggling to find a name we love for DD2.

One one hand I love classic names that are not too popular (DD1 is Elizabeth), especially when they have lots of cute nickname options. However, I'm worried about having two kids with this kind of old fashioned name and I do quite like cutesy, feminine names like Rosie, Evie etc too.
Don't want to choose something to overused though.

At the moment we're making a (not so) short list of the names we like and then we'll hopefully choose the one we both love from that list.

Sara (my favourite but DH unsure as there's one in the family)
Beatrice
Suzanne
Alexandra
Georgina
Caroline
Matilda
Francesca
Fiona
Amy
Maria
Carrie
Rosalind (sounds a bit odd with our surname but I do like Rosie)
Juliette (doesn't really work with surname though)
Chloe (probably too popular)
Evelyn (probably too popular)
Emily (definitely too popular)
Katherine (can't use as DD1's middle name)

Is there anything beautiful missing from our list?
And of the list, which one would you choose?

Rebecca is missing. To me it is timeless, absolutely beautiful.

From your list, I love Sara, Georgina and Juliette.

Sara (my favourite but DH unsure as there's one in the family)
Beatrice - Love
Suzanne - ok
Alexandra - Nice
Georgina - Love
Caroline - nice. My BFF's fave name.
Matilda - nice
Francesca - LOVE. Think it goes well with Elizabeth without sounding OTT.
Fiona - love
Amy - popular in my gen, only know a couple of younger girls with the name. I like it
Maria - nice
Carrie - nice
Rosalind - plenty of other names out there that can be shortened to Rosie, which is a nice name in itself.
Juliette - not a fan. See it posted a lot here but hmm.
Chloe - popular in my gen and coming back, but actually lovely
Evelyn - know tonnes of Evelyn's
Emily - know tonnes of Emily's

From other suggestions here I like Genevieve, Florence and Vanessa

MancUnicorn · 23/01/2018 17:24

Ooops forgot to edit 'Sara' - I love this name. As long as it's not a close family member (e.g. the childs cousin) then I don't really see a problem. If not as a first name it would make a lovely middle name. Good luck with everything!

Meemzinha · 23/01/2018 18:16

100% Francesca!!! Such a classic beautiful name! And it doesn't sound old fashioned... I personally don't like classics in general.. But there is the odd name like Francesca that will sound modern forever!

becca93 · 23/01/2018 18:24

my 12 week old is Beatrice so I'm biased ;) my next favourite would be Matilda, I love it!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/01/2018 20:48

Maria Caroline is lovely !
