Atticus

What do you think to this name?

Love it

NC4now · 21/01/2018 20:35

Reminds me of To Kill A Mockingbird. Nice name for that character. Wouldn’t suit any child of mine.

ChocolateCrunch · 21/01/2018 20:35

I like it

MikeUniformMike · 21/01/2018 20:52

Terrible. I loved TKAM but would not use it.

flutteronbynow · 21/01/2018 21:01

I like it as I love TKAMB but cannot imagine calling (as in actually calling it out!) my child it.

SuperBeagle · 21/01/2018 21:04

I think it's the sort of name someone chooses when they think they're being unique, without realising that everyone else who is trying to be unique is choosing the same name.

Plus, they all dole out the same, "To Kill a Mockingbird is my favourite book!" spiel.

TinWhistleTunes · 21/01/2018 21:06

Don't do it. You will wish you hadn't.

Give your lovely boy a nice, ordinary name ☺

DramaAlpaca · 21/01/2018 21:07

I'd think you were trying too hard to be different. Sorry.

TinWhistleTunes · 21/01/2018 21:08

I do love the mockingbird book. And I do like unusual names. But keep thinking. .... Flowers

whoareyoukidding · 21/01/2018 21:10

I rather like it.

Buxbaum · 21/01/2018 21:13

Very popular in certain corners of the country. Don’t assume little Atticus would be unique.

MikeUniformMike · 21/01/2018 21:13

It is very popular now.

How many 20/30/40/50/60/70/80 year old Atticuses do you know?

TinWhistleTunes · 21/01/2018 21:15

There is a balance between unusual and ordinary. Also; I think that the meaning of names is important. Is he from Athens?

augustbabyx · 21/01/2018 21:19

Very cute

TallulahBetty · 21/01/2018 21:20

Too try-hard

JuliannaBixby · 21/01/2018 21:26

It's very 'ooh aren't we ever so well read'.

Reluctant2ndtimer · 21/01/2018 21:30

Love it so much I suggested it to friends who wanted a name beginning with ‘A’, they went with it and he really suits it.

fastfrank · 21/01/2018 21:31

I love it but it's one of those names I think people would eye-roll at.

CeeCeeMacFay · 21/01/2018 21:46

I think it’s awful sorry

pipilangstrumpf · 21/01/2018 22:53

Atticus is great - cool, strong and not overused!

C0untDucku1a · 21/01/2018 22:55

I hardly think tkamb is ‘very well read’. It is on the school curriculum.

Buxbaum · 21/01/2018 22:59

Sadly not any more, Duckula!

Joeybee · 21/01/2018 23:16

It's a nice name, it's an old name that's suddenly becoming popular again. For me it's too trendy, I think there'll be lots of kids called Atticus in the next few years, then it'll suddenly lose its popularity and become dated.

JuliannaBixby · 22/01/2018 11:37

I agree @C0untDucku1a there's barely a person left who hasn't read it.

But that's what I feel people are trying to project by using a name that's only known through this one avenue.

pipilangstrumpf · 22/01/2018 15:22

I don't think it'll become too popular. It's a great strong sounding name. I really like it.
